Free Music Review: Superb roots compilation that does not disappoint

I had been eying this CD at my local Starbucks, even held it in my hand, turning it over... over the past a few weeks, before finally purchasing it together with a tall Verona and a piece of classic coffee cake (when are they ever going to reintroduce the orange coffee cake?). Being a fan of Bob Dylan and familiar with his remarkable diverse range of influences, I knew it was going to be good, even though I had not heard of many of the names on this compilation. My expectations were high, and I was not disappointed! It's possibly the best compilation of roots music from the whole world that you could imagine putting on a single CD. Every track is superb. Pee Wee Crayton rocks the blues with the best, the Stanley brothers do make the hairs stand up at the back of your neck (as Dylan promises in the liner notes) and Gus Viseur is spellbinding. In summary, if you have any interest in the diverse roots of modern music, folk, blues, country, jazz... get this album!
