Free Music Review: Refreshing and Fabulous!

I haven't been a fan of Ashlee's for a long time- just from 2007, when I bought her CD "I Am Me." I fell in love with it immediately, loving her unique voice, sound, and emotional music. I was eager to buy this CD, but I waited until now because I wanted to insure that I would have had time to process all the songs, so I wouldn't just submit a review the day after it's release and squeal about how lovely it is, and have to update later saying that the songs were the most annoying of it's kind.
"Bittersweet World" is fresh pop. I would describe the sound as having:
The catchiness and addictive beat of Britney Spears
The emotion of Destiny's Child (though the sound is extremely different)
The confidence and energy of Avril Lavigne
The slightly different sound of Blake Lewis
The wild playfulness of P!nk
And the edginess of Rihanna
I am going to admit that Ashlee does not have the best vocals in the world- far from it. However, the sound it unique and her songs are pleasant. Without a particularly wide vocal range, she leans on addictive songs and emotional moods (less on this album, but it was a common sight on her number one album "I Am Me.") It doesn't hurt that she is absolutely gorgeous and doesn't try to fake her attitude and doesn't try to copy her older sister.
This disc has the material to be a huge success if people would take the time to look away from the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, and most of these songs are the kind that you would listen to long after the release.
My personal favorite tracks are:
Track 1 "Outta My head (Ay Ya Ya) "
It's infectiously addictive and the sound in interesting
Track 2 "Boys"
Flirty, confident, and channels Avril Lavigne's sound
Track 5 "Little Miss Obsessive"
This is one of the songs that makes you think Wow, Ashlee's songs have really been improving as far as lyrics, emotion, and staying power
Track 8 "What I've Become"
Looking at the list so far of my favorites, I would have to admit that this song is a little bit more commercial with it's quick, catchy beat
Track 10 "Murder"
"Murder" has a slightly more alternative feel to it. Less polished and more emotional than "What I've Become" and "Boys," which are both favorites of mine. Versus those, which sound like they are made for people to listen and buy, "Murder" seems more like the lead single on an Indie Label album.
Track 11 "Never Dream Alone"
This song definitely sounds throatier and much more real than some of her other songs, and is the closest that Ashlee will ever come to a ballad. It is remniscient of her album "I Am Me" and it is at best, raw and emotional.
I enjoyed most of the songs. However, songs like "Ragdoll" sound like dropped tracks that Miley Cyrus thought were boring. "Bittersweet World" doesn't stick in the mind, despite being the title track.
If you like rock that is catchy, unique, and addicting, buy "Bittersweet World." It impressed me- just give this album a chance. Preview the album and listen to some of the songs on youtube, if you want.

Bittersweet World is the third studio album by singer Ashlee Simpson. She worked on the album with producers Timbaland, Chad Hugo, and Kenna. It has been described by Simpson as a "fun party album" with a "silly and quirky" side and some influence from 1980s music.
