Free Music Notes for Sounds So GoodFree Music Review: An Impact Singer Who Radiates Like the Sun Hit: 5 StarsWow! I waited several decades for an Ashton Shepherd to arrive and she's here! She has roots in the depths of humanity and a strong, clear and unspoiled voice for moving us to laugh, cry and celebrate life. At first blush, comparing her with Edith Piaf might seem ridiculous. The two look, act and sing in much different ways. Where they seem alike is in their ability to project intense feelings. I believe all the tracks of this disk deserve five stars. Tracks 9 (How Big Are Angel Wings) and 11 (Whiskey Won the Battle) rise above this. Both tracks are as capable of bringing strong men to their knees weeping as Edith Piaf's Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien. I hope and pray that Ashton can avoid the pitfalls of fame and cling to her mental and physical health so we can enjoy her voice for many years to come.
Free Music Review: SO GOOD WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE Hit: 5 StarsThe first time I played this CD I could not stop listening to it, I just kept playing it over and over. What a talent this girl is!
Listening to Ashton's music you can hear so many influences from Hank Williams to the Outlaw Country of Willie and Waylon to traditional country, yet in the end it can only be defined as Ashton Shepherd's music because there is no one else like her. This is pure country with an attitude, not the "bubble gum country" of Taylor Swift and so many others these days.
Ashton's voice and compositions are simply amazing.
Whatever music you buy this year, make sure that you buy this CD. Be fore warned tho, you won't be able to stop listenting to it.
I can't wait to see Ashton peform in person!
Free Music Review: Excellent Country Hit: 5 StarsI think this is Ashton Shepherd's first CD. If this is any indication, she will be around for a long time. Great voice, great back up musicians. It all equals a quality country sound. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Sounds So So Good! Hit: 5 StarsWhat an album, what a gal! I'd give it more than five stars as this is excellent for a country singer, exceptional as a debut album.
I too took a chance on this and might have missed it had it not been for the compilation "So Country" as Ashton has not had the exposure in Oz as she certainly deserves from this album. I haven't stopped playing it since I bought it.
With a voice as powerful as many a rock chick, Ashton blasts through some excellent country songs then switches in the next track to a gentle ballad still delivered with the power and strengh of someone whose talent indicates this should be much more than a debut CD.
From the opening song, Takin off the Pain to the final Whiskey Won the Battle Ashton delivers 11 excellent new country tracks, all penned by herself. Hard to say what's best as I love them all - standouts are Sounds so Good, I Ain't Dead Yet and The Pickin Shed - if this a sample of Southern living I know where I'd like to live!!.
Great first album, Ashton, look forward to the next before I wear this one completely out. For those that haven't played it give it a spin. If you like Country, you'll love this.
