Free Music Notes for PhoenixFree Music Review: Thoroughly Enjoyable, Worth Getting, & One Of The Year's Best By Far! Hit: 5 Stars
I can't stop listening to this album! If you are a fan of the original Asia, don't hesitate to buy this. And for those who think this is more a John Wetton solo album, that's ridiculous because having Wetton back at the forefront is the very reason this is worth getting. It's still a band effort and it's great to see Steve Howe contributing a song or two that stand out in the bunch. I was never a fan of the "other" Asia, so for me this is Asia coming back to how they should be known. My favorite tracks keep changing (which is my litmus test for a great album), but the track "An Extraordinary Life" should very well be a hit song on par with any of their previous hits. Don't expect that though, unless it gets placed in a commercial or movie. Pick this one up NOW!
Free Music Review: Great Era Of Music ! Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a fan of Asia since the early 80's and have just purchased their new CD Phoenix. I can tell everyone this and it is great to listen to real muscians, not the de sensitised so called music of todays generation of mindless rap crap and its off shoots. I am not saying there is not great muscians today but I don't feel they get to bring forth there talents as muscians of the 70 & 80's.
This new CD from Asia has the sound and sophistacation from these true muscians. This collection purely broght back memories of an age gone past, this age could do much good in its re surgence.
Sit back and indulge yourself in this age less collection. I hope there will be further colaberations from these talented muscians
Free Music Review: A beautiful garden in the desert of modern music Hit: 5 Stars
Asia's "Phoenix" holds up well when compared to their first three classic albums (1982-1985). This disc sounds and feels very 80's (in the best possible way) and gets more enjoyable with each listen. It's like a beautiful garden in the desert of modern music. As for the sound quality, it's pretty good, even though it's been mastered kind of hard.
Carl Palmer said, "The new album sounds very Moody Blues." I'd agree with that statement, but there's also a touch of ELO mixed in. But make no mistake, it sounds mainly like ASIA. If you're a fan of their original group, you will enjoy this disc as well.
Thank goodness for bands like Asia (and Deep Purple) for not only reuniting, but also making quality new music.
Free Music Review: Some things do get better with age! Hit: 5 Stars
I have so much respect for John Wetton after hearing this CD. And that goes for Geoffrey, Carl and Steve as well. This is one of the best CDs I've heard in a long while. As far as my taste is concerned, this is simply great music!.I personally have not had a lstening experience like this in a very long time. I love all the songs. John's voice sounds phenomonal and the instrumentation is perfect. I have so much respect for musicians of this caliber when they play to the songs and not to showcase their abilities. The lyrics are interesting and moving. I feel the passion through John's melodies and his voice quality delivers the message in the songs wonderfully. He is amazing. I believe any Asia fan will enjoy this CD immensley.
Free Music Review: This CD is so good.... ITS SICK!!! Hit: 5 Stars
The return of Asia is here!!! One word for this CD.... STUNNING! This CD I have had for 24 hours and can already say its very close to being the BEST one yet (No no guys... still holding the self titled one first, dont get in a hissie)! BUT THIS CD IS SIMPLY INCREDIBLE! Dont take my word for it... just check the reviews. Do yourself a favor, get yourself a little taste of this beauty by listening to a sample of "Never Again".
Now the sick part... Most likely this will not hit the radio. Which is COMPLETE highway robbery. But hey... At least I can turn on the radio and hear the B side of some idiot band, whos trying to get themselves out of a one hit wonder jam...
PEOPLE!!! DONT PASS THIS ONE BY!!!
