Free Music Review: Asia's Best Work
Hit: 5 Stars

A huge fan of Asia from the first time I heard "Heat Of The Moment." Their first release was one of the first CD's I ever purchased. You gotta remember that home CD players were just coming onto the scene in 1982. Anyway, before I get too sidetracked... I am also a big and longtime fan of each member of Asia. I have pretty much all of each artist's releases from the earliest of their days on the music scene. I say all of this to say I have relevance in saying this is Asia's best work. Period. If you really are a fan of Asia, you will not be let down by Phoenix. It's a great recording job, too. I hope they stay together long enough to put out even more music! Long live Asia!!

Free Music Review: Improvement over ICON
Hit: 5 Stars

Not that I didnt like the ICON albums, they had their gems such as THE GLORY OF WINNING. To me, Steve Howe's guitar makes a huge difference in the sound of PHOENIX and ICON. His playing is up front and beautiful. Geoff Downes keyboards seem to have quite a bit more "bite" on PHOENIX. Wetton still has the voice of gold and even though he didnt get to "cut loose" as much as I would've liked, Carl Palmer is still the greatest rock drummer on the planet in my opinion. The melodies on PHOENIX are gorgeous, especially on HEROINE, I WILL REMEMBER YOU, PARALLEL WORLDS, & EXTRAORDINARY LIFE. NEVER AGAIN is a great leadoff rocker. This reunion was way overdue.

Free Music Review: It just doesn't get any better than this!!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you took ASIA, Alpha and Astra (Even though Howe wasn't apart of this I hear some similarities in Downes' Keyboards from this CD), throw in some ICON and you have PHOENIX!!!!! I loved the Payne era Asia and I remember when 'Silent Nation' came out and they said it was their attempt to recapture the feel of the debut. I just couldn't understand why they would say that. It was nothing like that IMO. This CD captures everything from those past CDs and brings it into the current decade. There just isn't a bad song on here and to pick a favorite would be hard. This CD gets me excited about music again!! It is that good!!!

Free Music Review: Superb
Hit: 5 Stars

Being a big fan of Asia, and all the groups represented by the four original members, i love this new cd!. It represents a lot of the great sounds i know and love from some fabulous musicians, and the style definitely brings back great memories. I was glad to see Asia reunite, although a fan of their other work without the original members. They are even touring so be sure to catch them if you can, Asia is a cant miss group and this new cd Phoenix shows that they have purpose and direction, and a great deal of talent continues to fuel their work. I highly recommend this cd, Asia is a group for the ages!

Free Music Review: A Familiar Road
Hit: 5 Stars

If you like Asia you will like this disk. It is basically a continuation of where they left off when the original members left. The first song starts out with a riff like "Heat of the Moment". Remember when Robert Fripp declared progress rock no longer being progressive in the early eighties, he was right. It just goes to show you how lethargic the music scene is when no one is hungry anymore and everyone one is playing dead. At least Asia put out a disc of new material which in this day and age you are penalized for and really got the street team out there working it. The price of the disc is right also.
