Free Music Review: A good path to take...
Hit: 5 Stars
Tom Shear has done what many fans are afraid their favorite bands will do, and that is take a new direction. Tom's sound in Meta is headed in a different direction, but one that I find quite likable. His first albums were very digital and robotic (in a good way), but this album is much more fluid and beautiful, so to say. Definitely something to check out. A personal favorite is "Madman's Dream"

"Meta" will shatter any preconceived notions about the band and their music. Several tracks have the signature A23 sound, while others are slightly different in approach. "Raw" thrives with a breakbeat accentuated by boisterous vocals, while "Damaged" has a Depeche Mode influence. The vocals in "Madman's Dream" are completely different from anything A23 has done before, and the record closes with "Old", a balladesque track with a downtrodden bass line and sweeping synths, complete with emotional lyrics and a choir-like echo on the vocals.
