Free Music Notes for Tango: Zero HourFree Music Review: Piazzolla is divine! Hit: 5 StarsThis album is Piazzolla at his best! Gracias, Lorena Armulescu
Free Music Review: A unique visionary at his best Hit: 5 StarsI will try to be brief in light of the quality of the other reviewers. Two quick points. This man is as unique a musical visionary as Monk, Ornette Coleman, Mingus, or Jimi Hendrix. Like them, he is best heard with his own group. Fernando Suarez Paz (violin) Pable Ziegler (piano), Horacio Malvicino, Sr. (guitar), Hector Console (bass) along with Piazolla on bandoneon comprised one of the greatest quartets in the history of music. Like Coltrane's classic quartet, or some of Muddy Water's groups, these guys present an entire genre of music at its best. If you are new to Piazolla, some of the melodies will seem almost cliched. This is where the cliches came from. This is why the melodies became standards- because when this group plays them you can hear the joy of discovery, the intensely passionate nature of Piazolla's sound universe. This is not necessarily music for everyone- what is? But this is a great album by one of the unique voices in the music of the twentieth century. You owe it to your heart and your soul to give it a listen.
Free Music Review: This is what music is about Hit: 5 StarsThis is it. I think that the other reviewers have said everithing there is to say about this album. But as an Argentinian, I just felt the need to write something about the extraordinare Astor Piazzolla. Evwn though I'm to young to have witnessed and understood his music while he was alive (I'm 20). His music is timeless. I like to think about his music as the soundtrack of Buenos Aires. Driving through Bs As Downtown with Piazzola on, is a incredible experience. Nothing can compare to that. Thank you Astor.
Free Music Review: Quite simply, the best Piazzolla album of them all Hit: 5 StarsIf you have to own just one Astor Piazzolla album, make it this one. From start to finish, it is simply the best in all respects, particulary in how the entire album is so well-integrated. Every selection fits together with every other seamlessly. Some might argue that "La Camorra" is superior. I think that album has moments where it exceeds "Tango: Zero Hour" but as a totally-integrated album, "Tango: Zero Hour" has to stand alone. This album should appeal to anyone who loves well-made music, regardless of your normal musical preferences.
Free Music Review: Sultry! Hit: 5 StarsAstor Piazzolla should undeniably go down as one of the greatest composers in the latter half of the 20th century. I believe that it is works like those on this disc that will do just that. Lush harmonies, exquisite orchestrations and an exactness of detail make this performance flawless in every way. It is hypnotizingly seductive.
