Free Music Notes for Tango: Zero HourFree Music Review: WOW! Hit: 5 StarsThis is a great CD. Piazzolla's words ("We gave our souls to this record") ring true. Miss it at your own peril. This record has a soulful quality to it that is unparalleled. Every musician is top-notch, and the music is excellent.
Free Music Review: NOT TO BE MISSED Hit: 5 StarsJust accept my word for it, if you miss out on this recording you miss out totally on what Piazzolla has to say and what Piazzola has to say about the tango is worth listening to. While he was alive he was probably the best interpreter of his own work and very few since his lamentable death have managed to capture the essence of the "new tango" as he did. Gidon Kremer is probably one and, for those fortunate enough to know the works of The Paul Taylor Dance Company and his dance based on some of the themes here, you can see how much Piazzolla's music is very much alive and kicking and open to new interpretation.

Free Music Review: Made After Midnight Hit: 5 StarsZero Hour refers to that un-nameable time after midnight. I love the creeping, sneaking feeling that opens it, Tanguerdia III. The final track recaps this mood with an ending that lifts us into ghost-time. A highlight track is Concierto Para Quinteto which displays the group's clear love and understanding of each other. Also cookin' is the hard-working Michelagelo while Contrabjisimo simmers. All over, this is gentler then La Camorra, so maybe a better introduction to Piazzolla. It's said Piazzolla considered this the highpoint of his recorded work; I don't think it outdoes La Cammorra. But it's proof that Piazzolla was well acquainted with the outer limits of human experience.
Free Music Review: Incredible Hit: 5 StarsOne of the other reviewers said this CD is akin to making love to the woman of your dreams. If that is the case, then I have not met that woman yet. Music has a way of touching different aspects of a person. This one will touch parts of you that you had long forgotten about or never knew existed. The first 5 tracks are mesmerizing. This album is very accessible, and grows better with each listen. Strongly recommended.
