Free Music Review: just experimenting - and its great

what could you expect from an "experimental album" from john frusciante? the same album over and over? the guy made 6 albums in 6 months, of course some of the songs will be different. and as far as the bass lines go, listen to some fugazi before you get all bent out of shape by joe lally's playing. come on, what exactly did you expect?
frusciante knew what he was doing and wanted to create a different sound for Ataxia. he described his playing as "the most out of control" playing he has ever done. this album is good.

Someone should. These ten songs - each CD they released had only five - aren't enough! John Frusciante, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is a great guitar player. Joe Lally is a good bass player. And Josh Klinghoffer does an amazing job on drums. They each sing their own song - Frusciante sings "Dust", "The Sides" and "Addition", while Joe takes "Montreal", and Josh on "Another". Yes, there's five songs, but they're not too short though. Each range from 6:22 to 12:24.
This is a great CD for your collection!

The is much better than John's solo records. The music is relaxing and edgy at the same time. Not for everyone but for the progressive musical ear . Only five songs, averaging 9 minutes apiece.
If you enjoy frusciante's music you will love this. A Red Hot fan might not appreciate this but i did. Great music awesome guitars descent vocals . A very exploratory record by talented musicians.
It seems to get old pretty quick . Only buy if your in love with Frusciante.

Wow, this is one of the greates cds of the year!! It's the kind of situation where 1+1=3, the sum of the skills of each musician exceeds the individuals!! Every single song it's over 6 or 7 min but are so hypnotic that you can hardly notice the lenght. John's guitar playing is awsome, probably the best so far. Joe Lallys and Josh work is remarkable as well.
Hope they keep doing such an interesting music, although i heard this was only a one time project!! =(

Wow! Here is the release to get if you want to hear john blow the hell up on guitar. Proving he is one of the best ever. I personally liked the bass lines a lot. They were simple, but very direct and worked really well with the aesthetic that they were going for. Don't consider it, just buy it if you like music. It's got a dark tone, but is not melancholy or emo. It's just badass especially the second song.
