Enter Aterciopelados after a 5 year hiautus (although we heard the individual efforts from Andrea Echeverri and Hector Buitrago as solo artists with Andrea's eponymous album and Hector's "Conector") with a clear stomp of Latinamerican Music. "Oye" delivers a clear view of what Latino music should sound. Loud, with sense and no apologies. The lyrics of the songs are just clever and witty, Andrea clearly speaks her mind about money issues and materialism "Salgo de compras si estoy deprimida, si estoy muy gorda programo una cirugia". "Don dinero" shows humour and critic at the same time, but ballads as "Insoportable" and "Brisa" are heartwarming. "Oye" may not have the cosmopolitan sound of "Caribe Atomico" or the synths, loops and electronic sounds they used to step in a new era with "Gozo Poderoso", but is a clear statement of the duo about their experience as a powerful influence they have been the last ten years in latin rock. Forget other singers that claim to make latin music and making crossovers at the same time. Aterciopelados is the real deal.Free Music Review: Nice album!

What can I say. every song is so well done.
If you like alternative music with good melodies, rhythm, great percussion, guitars, latin influence, new sounds and songs that make you feel re-born. This music is for you. It doesn't matter if you don't understand the letters...music is enough.

I can't seem to understand all the one star reviws but it sounds like they were all written by the same person to me. I found this album to be amazing and stayed up til 2 a.m. listening to it three times in a row!!! I don't know what CD the reviewers are listening to but there is certainly the same depth, melodies, rock and exploration as on past CDs. Bands change, people!!! Live with it! These are the songs of talented musicians who love what they do. Ignore the negative reviews and pick this one up. I guarantee you'll be hooked!!!
