Free Music Notes for AtonementFree Music Review: Atonement Hit: 5 StarsI enjoy this soundtrack. I think it was beautifully made and it makes the movie even better.
Free Music Review: Dario Marianelli Just Keeps Getting Better! Hit: 5 StarsI am so impressed with Marianelli's latest musical creation in Atonement. I know only a couple of years ago, critics picked apart his score to Pride and Prejudice - a soundtrack I, by the way, love. Yet Atonement is fleshed out so much more fully, although that may be due to its heavier subject material. Regardless, Marianelli is proving himself as a talented composer. Good for him!
Free Music Review: They messed up a great soundtrack Hit: 3 StarsFirst of all, I am a big fan of the movie. I understand the storyline about a writer recounting a mistake from her youth. But what terribly disappoints me about this great soundtrack was the dubbed-in sounds of a typewriter over the music. I know it was a part of the movie, but it should have been removed from the soundtrack. I can't believed they ruined the music in this way.
Free Music Review: Mesmerizing Hit: 5 StarsThis music is absolutely enchanting. I love the juxtaposition of musical elements; for example the sounds of the typewriter along with the music of the piano. Highly recommended for those who appreciate the beauty of a well composed film score.
Free Music Review: As beautiful on its own as it was in the movie theater Hit: 5 StarsThis is well worth getting whether you've seen the movie or not. Marianelli captures and builds on the melancholy serenity and yearning of a lull in a storm. If the samples don't give you enough of an idea, think shades of the non-battle scenes of Gladiator and the Kenneth Brannagh Henry V.
