I heard about this album from my friend and I picked it up a week later.I disliked it and stopped listening halfway the first track. A few hours later I listened to the full album. I would catergorize this album as sreemo. It was tolerable and I would probably listen to it again later. After listening to it 3 or 4 times it became catchy and I enjoyed the harsh and melodic vocals. Every song was great.
1.A song for optimists 10/10-hated it at first because of the slow pace at the begining of the song. But this song gains pace and eventually the guitars are flying all over the place. Great song especially when the drummer sings a melodic part towards the end. Probably my favorite on the album.
2.Dilated 9/10-My favorite song when I first listened to the album and I still enjoy it.Fast paced the whole way and again the drummer adds melody during points in the song.
3.Ain't Love Grand 9.5/10-another great song. This song actually has a chorus unlike most of the other songs on this album except Living each day like your dying. A catchy and melodic one at that. This song features fast paced soft guitars with, of course, harsh vocals.I believe the title is sarcastic.
4.Living each day like your already dead 6/10-this song has great fast verses with hints of melody and a melodic chorus. The bad part about this song is that it has a chopy ending that causes you to skip the end of this track.
5.Deanne the arsonist 6/10-another good song.It has a dark, catchy and heavy chorus. The verses aren't slow but not as fast as the previous song and a little less catchy with bits of melody here and there.Good song.
6.Someones standing on my chest 8/10-a monster song.Heavy and brutal.Fast verses with a double bass like sound that causes them to sound heavier.An enjoyable melodic part similar to the one in "A song for Optimists".Sometimes I listen to this song just for the melodic part.
7.At least I know I'm a sinner 7/10-an enjoyable fast song.Complicated riffs. Swooping guitars.Good vocals and a catchy chorus.
8.Tulips are better-8/10 a melodic beauty. Fast and slow. Powerful and soft.
9.A vampire's lament 7/10-features a pounding beat similar to "At least I know I'm a sinner." Good riffs. An enjoyable track just like every other on this album.
10.Lip gloss and black 7/10-this song has a strange structure.Singing,wispering,chanting but all together makes it a pretty good song to end the album.
All in all you will be glad you purchased this album because it reflects great effort, talent, and originality.
