I love the music from August Rush. When you're watching the movie, the music fits in so well. I love the guitar songs that are played by August/Evan and they also have the song that he and Louis play together in the park. This CD was a must-have for my collection and I'm not normally one for original soundtracks.
There are a few songs missing, but it didn't bug me as much as some of the other people because it does have my favorite ones on there (the guitar songs and August's Rhapsody).

The greatest collection of music I've ever heard in one movie. This soundtrack is a classic and the assembled talent is unreal: John Legend is just that, Kaki King is a guitar virtuoso that will blow you away, Chris Botti plays a soul melting horn and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (who plays the male lead in the movie) can take his pick - rock star or movie star. He'll surprise you to say the least.
Incredible movie and music to match. Do yourself a favor, see the movie, buy the soundtrack.

This score is excellent! It moves through a diverse variety of styles and sounds, each step as entertaining as the last.
My personal favorite is August's Rhapsody, which combines several different inspirations that the (fictional) composer experienced, which makes for an emotional and strong song.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers really impressed me singing solos. Who'd have known?
Very good buy. It's well worth the money. Four and a half stars.
Free Music Review: The Spirit of the Movie

The music perfectly captures the spirit of the movie. The young star's voice-over certainly enhances the effect. Songs are eclectic, poignant and orchestration is lyrical, especially with the segues from rhapsody-esque full orchestral music to body-moving rock. Absolutely the best rendition of "God Bless the Child" I've ever heard. There's even a bonus instrumental reprise of Moonwalk not listed on the jacket. So well done that it has a permanent place on my auto CD player.
