Free Music Notes for Austin Powers: Original Soundtrack
Free Music Review: As good as the film!

Soundtracks are often a let-down on the film they're based on & skimp on the good tunes that appeared on screen, only to be replaced with music 'inspired' by the film. Fortunately, this soundtrack DOES live up to a well sound-tracked film & I can think of no omissions in terms of music that should be on here.
Of the songs that are memorable, there are tracks 1, 4, 5 & 8, all of which are rich in the sounds they bring to the film & are the type of tracks. Annoyingly, there's no way of humming the songs to you! However, they are the songs that you've almost certainly heard yet can't place (e.g. Mas Que Nada - track 5).
Secondly, there are the pop songs which appear in the film, which you can probably name: 6, 7, 11, 13 & 14. Although you may know the Burt Bacharach ones (13 & 14), I'm betting you don't have them all in one place or that you've lost your copies. Happily, these AND that song where Austin seduces the Fembots (I Touch Myself (11)) are all on here.
Lastly and, perhaps sadly, there are songs on here that are not catchy or familiar, but which flesh out the soundtrack & play some part in the film: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16 & 17. These range from the interesting (2: "BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC 3..." etc) to the rather bland (12: Call me). However, there's not sufficient numbers of the bland ones to make for a bad soundtrack.
So, overall this soundtrack is compelling, with a varied assortment of sounds to make for a first class soundtrack & mercifully few also-rans. As initially stated, if you enjoyed the film then you can't go wrong in getting a copy of this.
