Free Music Review: Sympathy for the color blind.
Hit: 5 Stars

Two nights ago I made a special trip to my local music store for the express purpose of purchasing this CD. It was worth the drive. I'm listening now for at least the tenth time, hearing something new I didn't notice before and certain that when it's finished I'll be starting this epic musical adventure all over again. That being said I decided to take look at Amazon to see what others are saying about the progression of Avenged Sevenfold. Many people get it and that's great. For some A7X is just not their thing and I (trying desperately not to forget that it's okay that we're all different) get that too. What I do find disappointing (though not suprising) are the reviews from some so-called A7X fans putting this CD down because it's not Waking The Fallen or City Of Evil. Of course it's not, these guys are artist not copy machines. If you criticize these extremely talented young men for growing musically you may as well criticize a new born for breathing. I can only imagine how horrible it is to be a person who can only appreciate a single, etched in stone, black and white style of music, tragic ... auditory color blindness

Free Music Review: A7X does it again! \../

These guys may just be the most talented group of musicians and singers putting albums out right now! I know that's a bold statement considering all the uber-talented bands out there (Tool, Metallica, Slipknot, etc.), but these guys have been solid gold since they started. This album, while not as dark as WTF, or not as ground-breaking as CoE, is still a very complete A7X experience that all A7X fans will enjoy. Don't let any poster here tell you what you should think of this album; you need to buy it and give it a listens of your own. If you are a true A7X fan than you probably have this album already and have listened to it many, many times just as I have, but just in case anybody out there is still on the fence let me kindly advise you to purchase this album and try it on. Trust me, given only a few plays it will fit just as it should! I'm not going to go through a track-by-track analysis here since so many people have already done that, and I don't think they do much anyways, but please give this album a chance. You'll be glad you did!

Free Music Review: Not as bad as I thought
Hit: 5 Stars

Remember when Shadows and Gates were in the Good Charlotte video? Were their new songs going to sound like Good Charlotte or something super commercial? Luckily it doesn't on this album. Almost Easy definitely has a rock radio feel but who cares? If its a good song, I don't care if it fits the radio format. I'd rather hear bands I like than some cutter garbage many of us are so used to hearing. But to each their own.

A Little Peace of Heaven has a Mr Bungle meets Tim Burton type of vibe to it. It's a wacked out song that kind of feels like a theatrical play and it will be interesting to see how they play this one live. THere is definitely some Helloweenish european metal going on during the intros of Lost, Afterlife and Unbound.

The biggest complain I have on the album is that the guitar mix is kinda too low. You could definitely hear everything on the previous 3 albums. It feels like it doesn't stand out in certain songs. Maybe thats the price of producing it yourself? Still a kick$$$ album.

Free Music Review: More than meets the eye
Hit: 5 Stars

Let me make it short and simple because no matter how much I take moment to say my opinion and prove a point, some "fans" will always take my word as something bad and immature... here goes, People grow up, minds open up and words evolve along with the melodies, to Avenged Sevenfold there's more than meets the eye... Yes I know yesterday fans will find a bad review to anyone who thinks avenged keeps getting better since city of evil... This is my case, if not very well appreciated... My advice ... If you like singing more than screaming, Buy it with no hesitation as this album expresses a new sound to this Yet Rock Band, very well crafted album, it really is quality... Such a good album, too bad I'll get many unhelpful votes as these "fans" will click for fun and ignorance instead of finding the real art in music. And really getting to grow up with the bands that have made them rock the heck out of a concert or party. In conclusion, this album is 5 stars hands down with 2 thumbs up!!!!

Free Music Review: Don't let first impression get to you
Hit: 5 Stars

Avenged Sevenfold has for the most part, have been given a lot of crap by most people because they don't scream as much anymore and their constant style changes. Even more so because they are "mainstream" now. I don't think bands that stay with the same musical style amount to anything in the long run. All of Avenged Sevenfold's previous albums have sounded different from each other. This self-titled effort is no different. Those hoping this album is an extension of any of their previous efforts will be seriously disappointed. Those who are comfortable with the music they listen to and are open minded will find a band coming into it's own. You won't find many long solos or a lot of long songs this time around, but you'll get a more focused and varied approach on this Self-Titled effort. Sometimes just doing what you want is the best music of all, as Avenged Sevenfold has done.

Stand out tracks: "Afterlife", "Gunslinger", "Brompton Cocktail", "A Little Piece of Heaven"
