Free Music Notes for City of EvilFree Music Review: If you ever get a chance see them live... Hit: 5 Stars
Hey folks its now 1:30 in the morning and I just got back from seeing this band in DC. I used to think seeing a ROTM concert would be the epitamy of amazing. Me being only 20 years old wasn't a concert goer at the time of their seperation sadly. After hearing A7X tonight however, I truly felt a nirvana while getting the crap knocked out of me in the pit and can feel I saw a show on par with anything ROTM could have possibly done.
About the album though, the band played about 4 or 5 songs off City of Evil, every one worth buying the CD for in itself. The influences of Iron Maiden, Guns and Roses, Pantera, and other incredible bands are easily heard as their guitar solos beautifully climax and lead singer M Shadows harmonizes with the other equally cliche named members of the band. Almost all the songs on this CD are long, but none of them ever seems overdone. Everything in them seems to belong without any ridiculous repetition or overused chorus'. These guys are talented to say the least and I believe could help to restart the glory days of the bands they obviously take inspiration from. It is also interesting to hear the creativity of their music, bringing everything from classical acoustic guitar to a fully symphony at times to truly highly the colossal nature of some of their tracks.
If you have the least bit of interest in Rock or Metal this CD is a must and an instant classic.
And if they ever come to a venue nearby, it could well be the best 25 bucks you will spend.
Free Music Review: FOR ALL YOU HATERS Hit: 5 Stars
Just to let you all know first off that the reason that the Vocals are different on this A7X album is the fact that M.Shadows had to have throat surgery to get vocal chords removed due to the fact that the screaming on the first big album (Sounding The Seventh Trumpet) put sores on his throat but yeah this album though the lyrics are greatly changed is still an awsome album he sounds alot diffrent in concert singing these songs than he does on the album he is awsome. This band is the best metal hardcore band around now besides Metallica of course A7X is awsome and I dont care what anyone says the best song on the album is Betrayed I give it a 10/10 individual song ratings are as followed.
1. Beast and The Harlot (8/10)
2. Burn It Down (6/10)
3. Blinded In Chains (7/10)
4. Bat Country (9/10)
5. Trashed and Scattered (8/10)
6. Seize The Day (7/10)
7. Sidewinder (8/10)
8. The Wicked End (8/10)
9. Strength Of The World (9/10)
10. Betrayed (10/10)
11. M.I.A. (8/10)
The Guitar riffs are still awsome Zachy Vengence and Sinister Gates keep up the great work there Johnny Christ on the bass still awsome but what I want to know what happened to The Rev. on this album drums arent nearly as strong as they are on Waken The Fallen which is there best album by far but yeah that is not the point this album is not as bad as some of these people have been saying it is it is still the same old Avenged Sevenfold strong and hard all the way to the end.
Free Music Review: Just wanna clear some stuff up Hit: 5 Stars
Ok, I already made my review for this CD (I'm using the kids reivew but I'm not a kid), but a lot of people are saying some really stupid things that needs to be addressed. First and foremost, I find it funny when people are saying how Avenged Sevenfold were their favorite band before this CD came out, but then they call them "Ax7" (its A7x btw). Any true fan or former fan would know that. Second, Shadows did get vocal chord surgery but HE CAN STILL SCREAM. He was told that he couldn't if he kept doing it like he was, but he changed his screaming style and he can do it still, its just that the band decided they don't want to. To quote Synyster Gates' father, Brain Haner Sr., who is also a musician, "Believe it or not, it takes more talent to sing than scream, just like it takes more talent to play a guitar rather than hit it with a large hammer." Next, A7x didn't "sell out." They got on a major label, yes, but this cd has about the commerical value of Bach these days, meaning none. Also, they no longer wear makeup, just look at their new pictures. And I also find it funny when, like a couple of reviews ago, someone says that this CD is "a waste of 40 minutes." Anyone who actually listened to the CD would know that the last 5 songs alone are about 40 minutes. Listen to the CD. Rate them on who they are, not who they were. This CD features amazing musicianship and great (but I can understand the "whiney" complaint) SINGING. Give it a chance, and don't look for a Waking the Fallen II, you will love it.
Free Music Review: A Perfect Blend Of Power And Beauty Hit: 5 Stars
First off i would like to say that I understand why alot of people do not like this cd. They have done away with the typical screamo/hardcore sound, which is good (although i love that kind of music along with all sorts of other kinds) and when a band that already has an established fan base makes this kind of transition, alot of them aren't going to understand. But they will gain a whole lot of new fans, i guarantee. Anyway, on with the review. What i love most of all on this cd is the way synyster gates and zachy vengance compliment each other. They are amazing musicians who have really stepped in up on the new record. Also the drumming has improved dramatically as well as the bass playing. And listen, Shadows isn't the greatest singer in the world(although he is good)but he doesn't need to be. His vocal style fits the band perfectly. Another great thing to point out on this album is the length of the songs. It's awesome i mean they are epic, but still keep your attention throughout with great tempo changes, very well-written arrangements with orchestra breaks, piano, steel pedal guitar, and a variety of styles of playing that's pleasant to the ear. The solos are great, and well there are alot of them, it was needed for the songs. Anyway, i hope this was helpful, and here are what i feel, are the 3 best songs from City Of Evil.
Track 8- The Wicked End
Track 4- Bat Country
Track 11- M.I.A.

Free Music Review: Attention all you uneducated SUPPOSED A7X fans Hit: 5 Stars
Ok listen up.....reading these reviews has gotten my blood boiling......This band is the greatest band around musically, creatively, and ya know what....these days, VOCALLY as well. If you want to hear some poser whine with a nasally voice about how much he loves his girl or how much he hates love then yea, you probably would think foolish thoughts of Sevenfold.
Now onto the real review. First off, yes, Shadows did get a cyst on his vocal chords and have to have surgery for it. He then trained with the same vocal coach that trained Axle Rose and other top singers in the music biz. If you don't like Axle's voice then I am to assume you are so blinded by this fake emo rock that you wouldn't know rock n' roll if it came and slapped you upside the head, which....is exactly what this cd does. Shadows still CAN scream, he just chooses not to because ya know what....the GREAT rock vocalists of our time didn't scream either.
I personally like "Waking the Fallen" better than "City of Evil", BUT "City of Evil" will change the face of metal as we know it. Every song on this cd is different than the next, each having its own personality if you will, which makes for a diverse, technical, and pulsepounding metal/rock record.
Axle, Sebastian, the GREATS....would be proud of this cd. Break away from the nu-metal and emo-rock. Enjoy the attitude of hard heavy rock/metal because that is what rock and roll is all about. ALL PRAISES TO A7X, believe me they are due.
