Free Music Review: Great Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is my all time favorite album right now. It's probably the best A7X album too. I'll go through the tracks:

1. To End the Rapture: An intro, nothing special. 4/5

2. Turn the Other Way: Great start to a great album. Starts off great. 5/5

3. Darkness Surrounding: One of my favorite tracks. A really nice heavy track that shows A7X's true potential. 5/5

4. The Art of Subconscious Illusion: Another one of my favorite tracks. Weird lyrics but the guitars and drums make up for it. 5/5

5. We Come Out at Night: The screaming sounds great with the beat on this track. Great beat. Great track. 5/5

6. Lips of Deceit: GREAT song! Starts off like it's going to be a slow track but then speeds up and sounds amazing. 5/5

7. Warmness on the Soul: A good slow song but just doesn't suit my taste. 4/5

8. An Epic of Time Wasted: AMAZING! My all time favorite song! Blows me away after 1 minute through. I highly recommend listening to this track! 10/5

9. Breaking Their Hold: Nice song but only 1:11 long. Still great for what it is though. 4/5

10. Forgotten Faces. A very catchy song that I like. One of my favorites. 5/5

11. Thick and Thin: Another catchy song. The chorus is great. 5/5

12. Streets: A very punk-ish song but still pretty good. 5/5

13. Shattered by Broken Dreams: A great way to end the album. A bit slower but speeds up a bit in the middle and sounds great, even though it goes on for about 7 minutes. 5/5

Overall: Buy this cd! It's an amazing cd and a great start for A7X. Hope this helps you in buying it!

You'd think most of the people who enjoyed Waking the Fallen would pick this one up. But anyway,

I love Avenged Sevenfold. This being the second CD i bought (WtF the first obviously), i initially was put off by it. Maybe it was the lack of actual sung vocals, or maybe...well, i don't know. But give this one more than a few tries you WILL be hooked. The CD reeks of metalcore, mixed with old school maiden (for a lack of a better comparision) and some punk thrown in too. Odd mix, but they make it work wonders. Some songs are very epic (Warmness of the Soul, Shattered by Broken Dreams, We Come Out at Night) and others rip your face off (Turn the Other Way, An Epic of Time Wasted, The Art of Subconcious Illusion). It's pretty balanced, except for Streets. Despite the fact that i really do enjoy the song, it feels very out of place here. What it all comes down to is that by the end of a few listens, you will know this CD rocks. It's original, melodic and grinding at the same time.

Hell, this CD even converted a good friend of mine who is most likely usually listening to terrible radio rap and trapt. Thank god i can listen to something decent when with him now.

In conclusion, ask yourself these questions: Do you like original metalcore? Can you stand large amounts of growls and screams? If yes, buy this immediately. It will defintely be a prize in your collection.

Free Music Review: The best in heavy music
Hit: 5 Stars

When writing a review for an album such as this, you always have a nagging fear that there are a couple things you are leaving when trying to convey the greatness of it.

Despite these fears I will review it anyway.

This album is basically a metalcore/hardcore album. But that's only the basis of it, they bring very many different influences into the songs without making it sounding forced there. They have alot of old metal influences like Iron Maiden, with a little Guns N Roses, and they also bring in some fast punk in the style of Good Riddance, with acoustic parts as well. Each and every track on this album is distinctly different from the next, creatively throwing many different influences into a song, utilizing brutal screams and beautiful melodies, while each member flexes their muscle in musicianship (espcially the drummer).

I could give you a breakdown of each song, but I don't think anyone wants to read that, but you should definitely check out their songs on mp3.com

This album has raised the bar in heavy music, many will try, but few will clear it.

Free Music Review: Heavy and moving
Hit: 5 Stars

There's no other band out there like Avenged Sevenfold, but there really should be. A7F blends hardcore/metal/punk and sweet melodic music. Their first EP "Warmness On The Soul" is a beautiful ballad with a piano and very soothing guitars. But don't let that fool you, A7F is heavy ..., and to top it off, their singer Matt Shadows is one of the best singers I've ever heard. Shadows has a very good singing voice and a good screaming voice, and he uses both frequently throughout the album. The album's opener "To End The Rapture" is a short piano intro with some lovely singing by Shadows, it then goes right into "Turn The Other Way" which starts off with vicious screams and yells but yet has a very melodic and beautiful ending, simply awesome. "We Come Out At Night" is the same way on that ending they pull out the piano again end it off with that. And "Streets" sounds more like an Offpsring song (not the cheesy offspring). If you like melodic hardcore, or just hardcore, or just plain good music, check these guys out!

Avenged Sevenfold is an extremely talented band, don't let the creepy cover and death metal image throw you off. The first song is a heartfelt piano song which gives way to the second track, a hardcore song dealing with suicide. So as you can see these guys are somewhat diverse. They have some really dark deathmetalish songs like we come out at night and another awesome piano song about a girl, warmness on the soul. Therse also some standard straight edge sounding punk like tracks 11 and 12 that kinda remind me of sick of it all and bad religion. All in all these guys just plain kick [butt] so check this CD out you won't be dissappointed. My favorite songs are the art of subconscious illusion, and streets. Also check out one of their unreleased songs - second heart beat. Thats the song that got me into AV7F and other hardcore stuff like poison the well and from autumn to ashes.
