Free Music Notes for Let GoFree Music Review: This CD burnt a whole through my stereo! Hit: 5 Stars
I put this CD in my stereo and it still hasn't come out. My other CD's are aside gathering dust. That's how good Let Go is. Catchy tunes, strong music, pure vocals, deep lyrics and a rock/pop sound combine to make this one of the most varied and stand-out albulms of the year. It's all in the title-Let Go-it's all about letting go, doing what you want, knowing how you feel and living. There's a song for every mood and whether you hate Avril or love her (there's no in between) this albulm will blow you away emotionally and make you appreciate it musically.-Losing Grip:A strong start to the albulm. An edgy, loud rock song with strong lyrics and great music from her band. Definetly one of my favourites. 5/5 -Complicated: Catchy, fun and just a bit different this song made an impressive start to her career. Personally I'm a bit sick of it because for ages it was the only Avril song I had and I continually (hey I'm not the only one at fault, the radio also played it to death)but still good guitars and easy listening. 3/5 -Sk8er Boi:The loud, fast, more pop than rock song that changed the way people spell. At first I loved it and I still do but to a lesser degree. Good for singing and dancing along to with a great short story in it. 3 and a half/5 -I'm With You: A moody, deep ballad that really stirs me emotionally. The first time I heard I loved it so much and I still do just as much. A pure, slow song that displays some amazing vocals and strings. 4 and a half/5 -Mobile: Fun, fast-paced with a great up beat tune. Took me awhile to figure out what the lyrics wre saying but it's still a cool song with great singing. 4 and a half/5 -Unwanted: A heavier, hard-core rock song (mainly in the chorus) with a really strong message. Simple but real lyrics balance with this great tune and vocal ability. 5/5 -Tomorrow: A soft, slow ballad that in parts almost feels like she's singing unaccompanied in parts to the simple lyrics. A full showcase of Avrils amazing vocal talent and a personal fave.5/5 -Anything But Ordinary: A true, real song about individuality and being a bit different that questions life. Cool tune, catchy lyrics, great song. 4/5 -Things I'll Never Say: I love this song! Nice melody and singing and good lyrics; about feeling nervous in front of someone you like and trying to get your feelings across. 5/5 -My World: Another song about individuality that relates to Avril growing up-"made my money my cuttin grass/got fire by a fried chicken as*". Catchy tune and cool lyrics. It's a lot of people I know's fave. 4/5 -Nobody's Fool: A strong, potentially a bit weird song where Avril does a form of rapping (more like speaking)in the verses and nice chorus. About not changing who you are. 4and a half/5 -Too Much To Ask: A deep meaningful song about a bad boyfriend-"You chose weed over me ya so lame" with amazing vocals and music. I love it. 5/5 -Naked: An impressive finish to the albulm. A slower song with deep lyrics. Pure vocal talent (i know coz i also heard the live version) and about someone seeing right through you and showing you how to be yourself "But then you came around me/the walls just dissapeared". One of my faves.5/5 I reccomend this albulm to everyone, esspecially 12-17 year olds. Let Go is addictive and obbsessive and there's been nothing like it before. If you're looking for a stand out voiced, guitar plaing, song writing teenager who is real Avril Lavigne is for you.
Free Music Review: Amazing CD! Hit: 5 Stars
... I decided to give the Track list another try when I saw the CD on the listening posts, I started to listen to just the first track and she won me over, I am now a HUGE Avril Lavigne fan. So here is my review of the songs:1. Losing Grip 5/5 - Very Rocky, this is one of the best songs on the CD, it describes a relationship she had where the guy didn't care, and yet she did but then decided to ditch it because he wasn't in it 100% 2. Complicated 3/5 - Like I said, I hated it at first, then it grew on me and I liked it, but now I kinda like it, I'm kinda sick of hearing it so much, but when you haven't heard it in a while it's good again 3. Sk8er Boi 4.5/5 - A VERY good song, although the lyrical outcomings (He was a boi, she was a girl...What More can I Say?) are a little short, but still this is a good Punk/Pop song, ... Althought we changed it to a clucked version instead of a singing one. 4 I'm With You 5/5 - This is a beautiful song, it shows that Avril actually can sing, their are some singers that are only good at singing one kind of song, either a fast one or a ballad, but in I'm With You Avril clearly proves she conquers both worlds. 5. Mobile 4.5/5 - This is song reminds me of my sister who lives in Calgary because at the beginning it talks about going back home, but then having to leave. This has a REALLY catchy tune, a little on the Pop side, some people may not like it. 6. Unwanted 3/5 - I have mixed feelings about this song. It's slated as the final release from Let Go, It will win over fans...This is a really rocky song, I have to be in the mood to listen to it though, I like it but I don't , it's wierd. 7. Tomorrow 4/5 - I've come to realize that 6 and 7 are the wierd points of the CD, from a really hard rocky song to a slow ballad, the transition is to much to fast, maybe if they put an in-between song it would come out better, This is a good song tho, the only problem is that it's out of place. 8. Anything But Ordinary 5/5 - This is the song the record label is trying to pass as her Theme Song, because let me tell you! Avril Lavigne is anyting but ordinary. She's got talent, looks,... I think I'm in love! 9. Things I'll Never Say 6/5 - This song PERFECTLY describes me, although it was ment to be about a guy I think it can also be ment to talk about a girl, this song is MY theme song, I LOVE IT! 10. My World 6/5 - This and Things are my fav. songs on the CD, this song PERFECTLY describes what my life is like.... and I can relate to Avril in this song. This song is by far, the single most reason to buy this CD 11. Nobody's Fool 4.5/5 - Avril tries to rap in this song, while she's no Ja Rule or Nelly she does a so-so job, I find this song very funny. (But not because of her rap) 12. Too Much To Ask 4/5 - I kinda don't like this song, yet I do, I can relate to the first part about being lonely, it's just a strange song again.... 13. Naked 5/5 - I Love this song! This along with Things describes my love-life down to a Tee. It's almost as if Avril knew what I'm going thru and then wrote about it. And there you have it! My honest opinion about Avril Lavigne's CD. A 5 Star CD if I ever saw one!
Free Music Review: Avril Is "Anything But Ordinary" Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! I decided to buy this album after listening to the first two singles "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi". Was I surprised? I definitely was. It's amazing how a teenage girl of her age can have that much talent. I mean, she has a great voice, she writes her songs, and she plays the guitar. I wasn't expecting this album to be that great. I must say that this album includes songs for everyone. One thing I like about Avril Lavigne's personality is her honesty. I mean, she acts and does what she feels like doing. She behaves how she wants to behave not caring about what others may say. These personality traits are also shown throughout this entire album.Below is my track-by-track review. 1. "Losing Grip" - (5/5 pts.) This is one of the singles out of this album. It was a big hit. Great song to start the album. 2. "Complicated" - (5/5 pts.) The first single. Even though this song was too overplayed, I still think it's great. For me, this song has a very good message. Be yourself and never feel afraid to show others who you really are. That will just make things more "complicated". 3. "Sk8er Boi" - (5/5 pts.) Another great song. It tells the story of a girl who is in love with a skater boy, but never lets him know because they are very different. This song also has a very good message. 4. "I'm With You" - (5/5 pts.) Another hit out of this album. This is a great rock ballad. Great way to continue the album after the uptempo "Sk8er Boi". 5. "Mobile" - (4/5 pts.) Very good song that talks about having to readjust after the changes in life. It's actually a very fun song to listen to with a pop-rock song. 6. "Unwanted" - (5/5 pts.) Aggressive song. Definitely one of my favorites. I think this song talks a lot about Avril. It also has a great message; never talk bad about a person without knowing him or her. 7. "Tomorrow" - (5/5 pts.) Another excellent ballad. It has very good lyrics and a relaxing sound. 8. "Anything But Ordinary" - (5/5 pts.) Excellent song with excellent lyrics. I just think the lyrics are great. It talks about wanting to live with more challenges and being different. 9. "Things I'll Never Say" - (4/5 pts.) Very fun pop-rock song to listen to. It talks about being shy to say what you want to say. 10. "My World" - (4/5 pts.) This is totally the songs that talks more about Avril. She's basically describing the way she grew up and the things she used to do when she was younger. 11. "Nobody's Fool" - (5/5 pts.) Another one of my favorites. It has very good lyrics and very cool rap verses, even though the chorus leans a little more into the rock side. 12. "Too Much To Ask" - (5/5 pts.) This is a pretty good rock-ballad. It also has very good lyrics. 13. "Naked" - This ballad is a great way to end the album. It talks about being afraid to open up with people. Excellent message. This is one of those albums that you cannot put down for a long time. Avril Lavigne talks about everything in her songs. I hope that her next album is as successful as this one or even better. Anyway, this album is a must-have. I totally recommend it.
Free Music Review: I wasn't sure about this at first, but she proved me wrong! Hit: 5 Stars
When I got this CD, I'd only heard a couple of songs, and I really wasn't sure whether or not I'd like it. The last CD I got (Vanessa Carlton's Be Not Nobody) had given me severe disappointment, and at first I was hesitant, but in the end I got it and I haven't regretted it at all.Teenagers like myself can relate to a lot of the songs on here, the two songs I personally relate to well being "Anything But Ordinary" and "My World". Scores for each song out of five Losing Grip: 5/5: before I got this CD, I'd never heard this song, but it should be right out there on the radio like "Complicated". I love this song, by far my favorite on the album. Complicated: 5/5: What can you say about this song? Great beat, good lyrics, the song that got me interested in the first place. Definitely worth listening to. Sk8er Boi: 5/5: I like this song a lot, and I can always get into it. It really catches the way that people nowadays act toward each other. It's about a, well, skater boy who asks out a preppy girl, but she turns him down because he's not her class. Then, years later, he turns into a rock superstar, and she's left feeling stupid. Everyday in my school, people descriminate against each other because of looks, so I can really relate. I'm With You: 4/5: Good song, with a nice, slow melody and pretty words. Not my very favorite, but as you can tell from the rating, still a good song. Mobile: 2/5: The beat is okay, which is the only reason this song doesn't get a one from me. I'm sorry to fans of this song, but it just bugs me. Unwanted: 4/5: A good rock song that's fun to turn up really loud. Sure, your neighbor's will complain, but it's not your fault they don't appreciate good music. ;-) Tomorrow: 3/5: Good beat, average lyrics. At first I didn't like this song but I grew into it. Still not the best, but worth hearing. Anything But Ordinary: 4/5: Good song, and lyrics I can definitely relate to, about living on the edge, and not caring much about boundaries that will just make your life boring. I can totally understand where this song came from. Things I'll Never Say: 4/5: Another song I didn't really like at first, but I grew into liking. I don't really know what else to say about this song. My World: 5/5: I don't know what I expected this song to be like but it was different than what I pictured--in a good way. It really captures teenagers emotions about things, and I can relate. Realistic lyrics and great beat. Nobody's Fool: 4/5: This song is sorta different from the rest of the CD in the way that it's rap, but it's cool rap, and she does this song well. It's cool. Too Much To Ask: 2/5: I don't HATE this song, but it's definitely not my favorite. I just don't really like it. I don't know why, I just don't. Naked: 2/5: Another iffy song that I don't really care for. Anyway, I would recommend this CD to anyone, teenagers in particular. Avril's CD rocks, and I look forward to more from her--next time I won't hesitate to buy it.
