This album is a sensational piece of work, it is vey simple yet amazing to listen to. I can honestly say that there is no really bad songs on this album and all are worth a listen to. If you liked Avril's to date single releases you will love the album, and to convince you even more "complicated and "sk8er boi" are not the best tracks, "I'm with you","Naked" and "Anything but ordinary" are all exceptional tracks. The lyrics are fantastically written and done so with a lot of passion and creativity. As for Avril's voice, she aint no Celine Dion but then again she aint no Geri Halliwell. The album is already been No 1 in America and she has had 3 consecitive No1 single releases in America. So if you are thinking about buying it, I would deffinately reccomend do do so.of verses at the end of songs; at first it has a good effect, but after a couple songs, it gets boring. Such as in Losing Grip. All in all, I think let Go was worth it all, and I greatly enjoy listening to her album. Avril has some flaws here and there, but she's overall pretty amazing.s safe to say that MTV and record labels have no conern whatsoever about the history and tradition of music. They are just in it for the money. Punk rock (and im not even a fan of it) is not just about clothes, it's about expression of oneself's individuality. You want to hear true punk rock? Listen to the Sex Pistols, or the Clash. You may not like them, they dont have the 'cute' ties and everything that make Avril Lavigne sooooo cooool. But they're true punk rock. But the powers-have-be have mutilated it, disfigured it, watered it down to suit mainstream radio, and as a result, they still posess their mansions, and cars. Avril Lavigne's attitude doesn't excactly endear herself to me either. She's unnessecarily brash, and cocky. She claims to not care what other people think about her, but the songs on her album prove otherwise. Guitar-driven rock? My stinky ass. It's the same moldy pop-punk trash that she criticizes Britney Spears for putting out. And she's a songwriting virtuso?? Even is she DID write these songs by herself, it's no great achievement. My half witted dalmation could write these in the tiolet. But she didnt write these by herself, just look at the credits on her CD. If at all she did something, it was to add her half-brained whiny "look at me, im so tortured" lyrics, which in the end made the songs worse. This CD stinks, and is a tragic reminder of what music has become. A greedy, money-first, organization with no consideration for art or integrity. But, I suppose you pathetic 12 year old girls think this is "punk-rock" dont you? And I bet you have your N SYNC shirts (that was cool only like a year back) tucked away in your closet, hoping no one would see them. Disgusting.
Free Music Review: Powerful and charming voiced girl~~~ Hit: 5 Stars
Avril Lavigne's "Let go" album is so charming voice colors. She has a powerful voice color, you know. "Let go"~~~ What would you like to go? The question is that what's the problem. maybe... so. See the album jacket! It is likely to imply "what". Just guess.. If you listen to Avril Lavigne's song, you will find her meanings. Hey guys! Follow me~~~And let's get it.^.^"Losing grip" is up-beat song. It makes me very cheerful and joyful. She has powerful voice matching electric guitar sounds. The last guitar sound is very simple, but strange air.. "Complicated" is likely to express her narritive.. It is shocking to me. This song has easy beats. So we can sing any voice problems. "Sk8er boi" is joyful song starting electric guitar sound so fast. Fast beat makes us very simple feeling. We can just dance around listening this song even though you have strange feelings Quiet air melt in "I'm with you". It has a harmony about rising and falling beats. There are guitar sound and drum beat adding to hers charming voice in "Mobile" Have you listened "ra ra ra ra~~~~"? How do you feeling? I felt so good ,you know. Just listen and again. "Unwanted" has more powerful guitar sound than any other song in this album. I seemed to think that she is rock singer listening this song. Voice color changed more powerful than before. Air changed once again in "Tomorrow". Sound is simple, so I felt boring a little bit... he ra ria~~~~~ Similar sound and beat are so often in this song.. "Anything but ordinary" has so simple beat, but not boring. Because one and two beat made me so happy. Simple sound changed my mind clean. If you listen to song, "Things I'll never say", you can feel hers original voice. Corus made me absorb her voice. um~~~~ "My world" has general pop-song styles. So friendly mind is spring my own. Ears talk to me " She has beautiful voice color". ha.. ha. "Nobody's fool". This song's sound style is simple beat. So you feel so boring.. so do I. It's not peaking and falling sound changes. Not so good. How do you feel after listen to "Too much to ask"? It makes beautiful sound and voice. Beat! one and beat 2...!! It's so interesting for me. "Naked" has original guitar sound. It is friendly.. There is simple beat sound. Just singing and repeating, and your mind is so ease. Fatigue can be off your body and mental.. It's good to you.. Avril Lavigne's song is so beautiful and fantastic.. Her song made me interest about pop music. If you buy this album, you don't have to regret because we can feel her charming voice. Free Music Review: Lavigne is the Queen Hit: 5 Stars
Avril burst onto the scene with her melodic and post hardcore beat in "Complicated" which is quickly rising to #1 on charts. And she continues to reign with her cd entitled "let go". Her music is compiled from past experiences and difficulties. What seperates her from other artists is her ability to put all of her emotions into her songs succesfully and make it sound great. Some people tend to compare her to Alanis Morisette, but I say nay. She has her own sound, she can only be and sound like Avril. And she shows and creates her originality in "Anything but Ordinary". Obviously not afraid with her own style, her cd has so much variety that it makes it hard to realize its still her. In the first 3 songs she goes from a slow-fast paced rock song "Losing Grip", and then goes to a ballad that everyone knows, loves, and can sing along with "Complicated" which tells about how she despises poseurs (people who are not them selves and act like other people to try and be cool). And then she moves on to "S8er Boi" which tells about a girl who's friends thought she was to good for the skater boy and later regrets it. Which seems to be yet another song about being yourself, which would have payed off in this case. The 4th track on this excellent cd is titled "I'm With You". It starts with a soft tone and really continues like that for the most of the song. It just shows that Avril really does put all of her heart into every song she writes. The 5th track "Mobile" just seems to make you feel better when you listen to it. I often find myself singing along to it (not a pretty sight!). She just tells how she feels like most of her other songs. In track 6 "Unwanted" she just seems to be talking about relationships. In track 7 "Tomorrow" she tells about how if she just waits everything might just go back together. Track 9 "Things I'll Never Say" is a nice upbeat song. "My World" is a fun song that tells about her hometown of Napanee and just about herself in her own little world. "Nobody's Fool" is probably one of the most interesting songs on the cd. It almost sounds like she is rapping (she does a good job) about how she has changed. It also is one of the most original songs that I have ever heard on a rock cd. "Too Much to Ask" is a nice melodic song that has great vocals (pretty much like the rest of the cd). "Naked" is a moody song about her changing and finding that person that just makes her feel different (in a special way). All in all, this is a great cd and I recommend it to everyone in the world. Fans don't lie, she already has over 12,000 supporters. If you liked "Complicated", you will like this whole cd.
Free Music Review: Worth Buying Hit: 5 Stars
The debut album "Let Go" from Avril Lavigne is now in stores all over the nation. When I first heard her name, I thought something that was probably in the minds of countless others: "Who?" Then, after I was informed, I had another thought: "Oh, great, another pop chick singer."Normally, I'm not into alternative, I enjoy rock (acoustic, hard, punk, etc.). There's something different about "Let Go." There's actually emotion and feeling behind the lyrics, written by Avril Lavigne herself. All too often, I hear songs with mushy lyrics that are just playing to make money off of soft-hearted people. The songs in "Let Go" have a realism to it, they aren't empty words. The only way to describe them is raw, emotional, and real. You can feel that these lyrics are straight from Avril's heart. That's what impacts me most about this album. Of course, Avril Lavigne's fantastic vocal ability doesn't hurt.... The songs, themselves, have life not only in the words, but in the music performed by Avril's band, and even she herself accompanies with her own guitar-playing. The first radio single off of "Let Go" is called "Complicated," and it's currently climbing the charts to the top. Of course, it has good reason to. "Complicated" isn't just catchy, it has staying power, as do other tracks on this CD. This particular selection is a great tune with an acoustic feel. Several other songs from "Let Go" really stand out in my mind. Songs like "Losing Grip," "Unwanted," and "Mobile" are my main CD picks. They are a bit more rockin' and the lyrics are especially emotional and grabbing (which is common trend through the entire CD). Another track, aptly titled "Sk8r Boi" is fun, fast-paced, "punk" style tune featuring a great story about a guy and a girl who are complete opposites, but meant for each other, while songs like "I'm With You," "Naked" and "Things I'll Never Say" not only are powerful, revealing the emotional vunerability of people in love as well as display Avril's maturity, with some of the most powerful lyrics I've heard in my short career of songwriting, they show the true ability of Avril's amazing voice, too. So to recap, Avril Lavigne's full length debut album "Let Go" covers all the bases, with taste. Great singing, great lyrics combines to equal a great CD that is worth buying. Unlike pop singers from the recent years who are known for their image, Avril Lavigne is quite different in her focus, the songs reach out. Without hype, without image, just raw music. With this album being her first and only being 17, you know she's in store for a great musical career.
Free Music Review: Awesome!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Brilliant album!!! One of the best of 2002 by now definitely!!! The first time I heard "Complicated", I thought it was an average pop-rock song but now I think it's the best song released this year so far!!! The album has got many different flavours, but all songs are verrryyyy catchy, yet not cheesy, and one can sing with them after playing them for 2/3 times!!! I love the direction Avril took in what concerns the music genre... She took a bit of Alanis, Jewel, and a bit of Pink and adding her punkish attitude she created 13 wonderful songs!!!Losing Grip 9.5/10 - Brilliant album opener... This song totally roxxx hard!!! Complicated 10/10 - Masterpiece!!! What more can I say!!! Sk8er Boi 10/10 - Her next single... Wonderful guitar riffs... Surely it's gonna be the next pop-punk anthem!!! I'm With You 8/10 - One of my least favourite songs on this CD... Avril shows she's got a brilliant voice in this number but it's a bit slow for my tastes... Mobile 9/10 - Very catchy song but not a highlight for me! Unwanted 10/10 - This is a rocker!!! This sounds a bit like Alanis' "Head Over Feet" and thats very cooool considering that Alanis is my fave singer!!! Tomorrow 8.5/10 - The least catchy song of the album... But it's growing on me right now... A bit slow but it's a wonderful song! Anything But Ordinary 7/10 - I gave it 7 because I love it's lyrics but musically it's a bit too poppy for my tastes... My least fave overall. Things I'll Never Say 10/10 - Wooow... Amazing song... This can make for another single for Avril in my opinion... This song totally haunted me... it's got wonderful guitar riffs and Avril's voice is brilliant as always!!! My World 10/10 - Masterpiece!!! This is going to be a smash-hit if it gets released as a single!!! Brilliant!!! Nobody's Fool 9.5/10 - Lovely lyrics!!! And Avril shows she's good at rap as well... & she shows she's a very confident girl when she sings "I've got a backbone stronger than yours"... Great song!!! Too Much To Ask 9/10 - This is a very heart-felt song!!! Not a highlight but it's very good!!! Naked 7.5/10 - This song is okay but it suffers because it's not that much power-pop like. All in all, I think Avril has got a great future in the music scene... Very very promising rocker as well... "Complicated" is doing great chartwise and I'm sure that "My World", "Things I'll Never Say", "Unwanted" and the next single "Sk8er Boi" can be nearly as huge and are going to keep Avril around until she comes up with more new stuff!!! I think in the future her songs might verge to a more alternative-punk sound... With her debut album selling over a million copies in just 6 weeks, she's already got a very strong fan base and she'd surely won't go away easily... Rock On Avril babe!!!!
