Free Music Review: Avril Lavigne's lyrics and voice will blow you away!
Hit: 5 Stars

Some people may think that Avril Lavigne is trying to be another Britney Spears knock off, but it is a mistake to think of her that way. This 17 year old is more than that. She keeps it real by writing all her own lyrics and they come straight from her soul. Her phenomenal voice adds to the message she is trying to get a crossed in her lyrics. She is a very talented and true songwriter/singer and will be in the music business for a long time.
"Complicated", her first single off her first album, "Let Go", has more of a pop vibe. It was good on her part to put this song out first because it has the ability to capture a large audience. In the song she sings about how a person who changes themselves around everyone else. Now everyone knows someone who is like that. She tells it like it is and it has an awesome tune. The video is also awesome, with its young and rebellious feel. Avril rocks the television with her band mates.
The songs that have the more alternative beats "Losing Grip", "Mobile", "Tomorrow", "Too Much to Ask", "Unwanted", and "Naked" show that she is not in the pop scene at all. These songs can rock the house and have some awesome alternative beats. She blasts through the speakers rocking out the emotions and events of her young life.
"Anything But Ordinary" is more like "Complicated", with its catchy tunes. She expresses that life should just be lived how you want it to be without all the complications of the world. Many teenagers can relate to this song because they are still finding themselves out at that age.
The song, "My World", has an interesting story to it. It kind of tells what is was like being Avril growing up. The more punky song, "Sk8er Boi", also has a story behind her wonderful voice. It's the kind of song to rock out in your car too. Then in "Nobody's Fool", Avril even busts out in a little rap! You go Avril!
The songs "I'm With You" and "Things I'll Never Say" are beautiful lyrical songs on her behalf. They are the more "slow" songs on the album that allow her to show how beautiful her voice is. Her voice has so much soul and is well developed for a 17 year old and for her first album. I was blown away when I heard her voice on these songs.
She does it all! Pop, alternative, punk, rap, and soulful. You name it, Avril can do it and does on this album. Avril is a very popular artist for her short time in the music scene and should be because she is the best artist at her age to come out in awhile. It is well deserved and I applaud her for her magnificent talent. This is not the last we have seen from Avril. She is a very talented songwriter and we will see more from her in the future.

Free Music Review: Let Go
Hit: 5 Stars

Avril Lavigne releases her debut album at just the age of 17, with her first single, "Complicated", on it, and I must say, I really enjoyed listening to the debut of a very talented female artist who not only writes her own songs, but also sings each song with as much emotion as possible!

AVRIL LAVIGNE - "LET GO"

[01]: "Losing Grip" [3:53] - This song is the first track on this album, and there couldn't have been a better song to open up this album with! The sound of this song has a major rock feel to it, and I really like how Avril sings her entire heart out on this one! It's absolutely and totally amazing!

[02]: "Complicated" [4:05] - The first single ever to be heard by anyone at all on the radio and seen on TV! I'm really happy that this song was released as the first single for this album, because the sound of it is so simple and cool! It's so very Avril Lavigne!

[03]: "Sk8er Boi" [3:23] - I really like, "Sk8er Boi", because it's a very fast-beat song with a lot of rock to it and it's sure to make everyone want to dance or go wild!

[04]: "I'm With You" [3:44] - A slow, but yet, very good song that Avril wrote, and it's very cool that it's on this debut album of hers! Good job, Avril!

[05]: "Mobile" [3:31] - A fast, but not too fast song (unlike, "Sk8er Boi"), that sounds really awesome and very cool in a way that almost anyone would enjoy!

[06]: "Unwanted" [3:40] - A song that's not very much of a rock song, but still has a good feel to it as Avril sings her heart out with this one!

[07]: "Tomorrow" [3:48] - A very sad but good song about looking forward to tomorrow, and it almost makes you want to cry when you listen to it.

[08]: "Anything But Ordinary" [4:12] - This song sounds so simple and fun with it's great upbeat sound!

[09]: "Things I'll Never Say" [3:44] - I really like this one, and I'd probably have to say that this song is one of my favorites on this album, because it has a very nice beat to it, and I'm glad that Avril wrote this song for the album, and it sound so fantastic!

[10]: "My World" [3:27] - This songs sounds as if it's actually talking about Avril, herself, and if so, then cool!

[11]: "Nobody's Fool" [3:57] - Almost anyone can relate to this song! It's a song that talks about not wanting to be made up into something that other wants you to be and that it makes you uncomfortable!

[12]: "Too Much To Ask" [3:46] - A great song with a great beat!

[13]: "Naked" [3:27] - This song is another song on this album that's one of my favorites! It's totally awesome, and it's a great song to end the album!

Free Music Review: This 17-year-old Proves that she's Nobody's Fool
Hit: 5 Stars

Definently one of the best CDs of the year.. Here's my ratings.

1.Losing Grip: 3/5 Very powerful song. Demonstrates the feelings of how true love is and how hard it is when the person you love isn't all you thought they would be. "Why should I care/You weren't there when I was scared/I was so alone.."

2. Complicated: 1/5 Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but the endless playing on every single radio station in the US clearly pumped the life out of it. Catchy melody - you'll find yourself singing it for hours.

3. Sk8er Boi: 3/5 Very good song that Avril wrote with herself as the boy (The punk one that really likes someone that is truly turned off by her reputation) Sounds more like pop than punk, but still a good little tune despite it's frequent airplay.

4. I'm with you: 2/5 One of the more confusing songs on the CD. The words have meaning, but it's not a song you really find yourself getting into.

5. Mobile: 4/5 I don't know why, but this song reminds me of someone coming home from college. With such lyrics as "Went back home again/This sucks gotta leave again" you'll find yourself dancing the whole time.

6. Unwanted: 5/5 Definently one of my favorite songs on the album! About one of Avril's favorite topics - judging someone before you know them. "You don't know me/Don't ignore me," truly has very strong lyrics and is a very empowering song.

7. Tomorrow: 4/5 This song demonstates Avril's capability as a singer. A slow song that displays her clear voice. A very pretty song.

8. Anything but Ordinary: 5/5 I really love this song. Another song about refusing to conform. "To walk within the lines/Would make my life so boring," very good empowering song as well.

9. Things I'll Never Say: 5/5 I love this song as well. There's not much to say about it until you listen to it for yourself. Very interesting song.

10. My world: 5/5 This song is basically about Avril growing up in her small Canadian town (population 5,000) and obviously knocks some reality into this manufactured world that stars are people just like us.

11. Nobody's Fool: 5/5 My favorite song on the album. Another pretty song about refusing to change yourself to meet other people's requirements. "If you're trying to turn me into somebody else/It's easy to see I'm not down with that/I'm nobody's fool."

12. Too Much To Ask: 5/5 DEFINENTLY has to have the best lyrics out of all of them. The story of true heartbreak. I love this song.

13. Naked: 3/5 This song is a little slow, but very pretty.

I believe the CD comes with extras you can view by putting it in your CD-Rom drive. It comes with videos, an exclusive song and a couple of other things.

Don't think it's worth the money? Think Again. It's worth every penny.

Free Music Review: Perfect Pop
Hit: 5 Stars

I think by now we're all aware that Avril Lavigne is NOT punk, is NOT rock - she is pop.(I just wanted to make it clear that I am not delusional)
Since I first listened to this album I loved it. Here's my evaluation of the songs:
Losing Grip - 5/5, This song has a lot of emotion, she is angry and hurt. I think that a lot of people would be able to relate to this.
Complicated - 4/5, an uplifting tune and easygoing lyrics, one of those songs that you can't help from singing over and over again!
Sk8er Boi - 3/5, cheerful melody, lyrics that LOADS of people can relate to. people made way too big a deal about the spelling (it really bugs me that everytime I see the word 'skater' its got the damn '8' in it)
I'm with You - 5/5, I really love this song, its sad and has a very lonely feel, you can understand how Av was feeling when she "CO-wrote" this song.
Mobile - 4/5, this gives us a window into Av's busy and confusing life.
Unwanted - 4.5/5, this shows how it feels to rejected, its angry, its loud, it wants to be heard!
Tomorrow - 4/5, a slow song. harmonious tune + Sweet lyrics = great song.
Anything but Ordinary - 5/5(my FAVOURITE song),in my opinion this song is a masterpiece! it expresses a strong will be different and not just 'one of the crowd'. A really catchy tune that you'll be singing for months.
Things I'll never say - 4/5, a love song, typical teenage romance, very sweet. I find the lyrics touching, their is a lot of emotion.
My World - 5/5, Av's life. I love singing along to this song. Obviously totally unique because no one else would have had her life.
Nobody's Fool - 3.5/5, a rap song with memorable lyrics, shows that Avril doesn't want to be anyone but herself. Love the line 'but I fear that your only tellin' me what I wanna hear but do you give a damn, understand that i can't not be who I am'
Too Much to Ask - 3.5/5 this is about a bad relationship, i recommend this song to anyone who's been hurt.
Naked - 4.5/5, this is about Av having her true feelings exposed, I really like this song because I'd love to be able to open up and be myself all the time.
Avril's vocals sound great throughout the album. She sound different live, everyone says that she can't sing live but I acually think she sounds BETTER live! This album is a must-have if you like this kind of music. It's on the same lines as Alanis Morissette's 30 million selling debut album 'Jagged Little Pill'. Av's music inspired me (and many others I'm sure), I love singing and now I've found songs that I like singing. More people should appreciate Av's music for what it really is, some people like it and some people hate it, but I LOVE it!

Free Music Review: Avril - Alternative Genius
Hit: 5 Stars

When Avril first came out with her song "Complicated," I really enjoyed listening to this on MTV. The music video really showed how people live and how they like to do the weirdest things (kind of sounds like myself....lol). Anyway, then Sk8er Boi came out and really showed some destructiveness in the world, but I enjoyed the song, and still do today.

Now, what happens when Avril's upbeat music hits into her Ballad "I'm With You?" I loved it! After listening to these three songs, I finally decided to get the CD, and I haven't been disappointed at all.

Each song has its own special type of flavor that really sets it apart from others. Here are the songs in order and how I like them (1-5 stars):

1) Losing Grip: This definitely sounds like Avril's style. It has a great music base to it, and it really talks about people and letting others down. 5 stars.

2) Complicated: Uh, we've all heard this song, so I don't need to explain it. I love it still, though. 4 stars.

3) Sk8er Boi: As I said before, I loved the song, especially the message behind it. 5 stars.

4) I'm With You: This is one of her more mellow songs (as I said before), and it sounds really good. Has a good meaning on its lyrics as well. 5 stars.

5) Mobile: Still has the same sound as normal, but isn't as catchy as her others before. 3 stars.

6) Unwanted: More punk rock involved in this track, and it sounds very upbeat and has a great melody to it. Probably one of my most favorite songs on the CD. 5 stars.

7) Tomorrow: A little more of a ballad song, and has a good sound because it's more acoustic than punk. 4 stars.

8) Anything But Ordinary: ....is a good song as well, but I usually skip this song. 2 stars.

9) Things I'll Never Say: Yeah, I guess all the songs can't be the greatest, and this one has a good melody (especially the chorus), but it's not my most favorite either. 3 stars.

10) My World: Typical rock, but isn't like her normal songs. It has more of a catchy rock sound to it, but it's almost too peppy...lol. 4 stars.

11) Nobody's Fool: I like this song because the verses are spoken, not sung, and the chorus has a great melody to it. And Avril really knows how to speak on this one. 5 stars.

12) Too Much To Ask: Not the typical Avril song either, but this is probably next to Anything But Ordinary on the CD. I usually skip this song. 2 stars.

13) Naked: This is probably one of the best songs on the CD (next to Unwanted and I'm With You). It has a good meaning to it and a good music feel to it. 5 stars.

Overall, this CD is definitely worth your money. I hope she comes up with another one later in her career. She rocks!
