Free Music Notes for The Best Damn Thing

Free Music Review: Calm Down Guys, This is a Great Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I consider myself as someone who has a very fine taste in music. I play guitar, have played electric bass, my favorite bands are definitely not your pop collection: Sonata Arctica, Deicide, DragonForce, Rhapsody of Fire, Europe, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Kamelot.

As such, I feel this album deserves way more than 3 stars. Yes, the lyrics are cocky. Yes, this is NOT real punk. And yes, the music could have been a little more complex than a few power chords with an occasional arpeggio here and there.

But you forgot one thing: this is not Dream Theater, and nobody said it was. This music is meant for radio. You can't afford to have 7 minute songs in radio, although that would be nice. I mean, what's wrong with structured verses, or the simplicity of this music? As long as it sounds good(and it surely does), I don't have any problem with it whatsoever.

I feel here that what people have problem getting through are the obviously cocky lyrics. She thinks of herself as the most beautiful, intelligent and precious girl in the universe. I mean, so what? What the hell is wrong with being cocky? Is your self-esteem so low that a little blond girl talking she's "damn precious" annoys you?

If so, don't purchase this album. You'll want to throw it out of the window. If you, however, can release the judgment of the lyrics(which, by the way, are quite good) and enjoy the music, you definitely won't regret.

Free Music Review: Avril is BACK to stay!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm really surprised with this album. First let me say if you're expecting another Let Go or Under My Skin, this isn't for you. But if you loved Sk8er Boi & He Wasn't off of those albums, you'll LOVE this album. It's full of spunk & personality. It's so much fun. It's definetly Avril at her best. Plus she throws in a few ballads with beautiful lyrics to balance the record out.

The best songs IMO are Runaway, When You're Gone, Hot, Innocence & Keep Holding On. But the rest all are GREAT songs. I've listened to the album over & over, never skipping a track. This is definetly hands down one of the best albums yet of 2007. If you want something fun to rock out to & dance to while you're driving or getting ready to go out with your friends or even partying, this is the CD for you!!

Avril is looking the best she ever has & her personality & attitude shine through on every song on this record. "Girlfriend" is so much fun & it's currently #3 in the country!! Next up..."When You're Gone". This is one of her best songs EVER in my opinion. She sings "When you're gone, the pieces of my heart are missing you & the face I came to know is missing too..." Amazing!!

So I reccomend this for anyone that loves fun pop/punk that you can dance to & songs that you can relate to. Also, if you don't want the edited version, you need to buy the Deluxe Edition. The regular edition is edited.

Free Music Review: Rebellious; but in a good way
Hit: 5 Stars

At first I was far from impressed with what I was hearing from Avril on this new album, asking myself why she had suddenly made the decision to switch from more or less radio-friendly music to a feisty punk-inspired series of jams with only a few ballads tossed in between; but then a couple listens later, it seems that perhaps this newly crafted style is even more to my liking. With straightforward angst-filled lyrics, Avril delivers a sound on this album which becomes exceedingly catchy after continual exposure. Although there are a few weak tracks (I find "Girlfriend" to be a slightly annoying choice for a hit, and the title track also isn't too impressive), they are negated in essence by the stronger tracks. My favorite would by far be the ballad "Innocence", whose soft piano and heartfelt vocals combine to make this probably my favorite piece from her thus far; I also quite enjoy "Runaway" (which contrasts acoustic guitar background with a harder guitar chorus) and "When You're Gone" (really good lyrics on this one; good choice for a hit). Overall, the new sound will take some getting used to, but at least for me it paid off in the end. The tunes are catchy, and in spite of some lyrical cliches, many of them are among Avril's best work. Personally this is my favorite of her CD's now. I would rate it either four and a half or five stars.

Free Music Review: This really is the best damn thing!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you like the song, " Girlfriend", then you are garunteed to like this album! Although this is far by my favorite album, I must admit that the song, "Hot" is a little corny and annoying!
The track, "Conatgious" can easily be listened to over and over again and is easy to relate to.
The track, "I can do better", is fun to hear and sing along with.
The track, "Runaway", can make you REALLY hyper and energetic!
The track, "Keep holding on" is probably the only "nice, mellow, and postitive" song besides Contagious and Innocence.
The lyrics to "The best damn thing" is SO corny and cheerleader-type, but whatever, it's still a FUNNY and FUN song! :-)

Time to wrap it up, cuz I know this review is BORING!!!!! OK, so to sum it all up, "The best Damn thing" (NOT THE SONG, THE ALBUM] is TOTALLY worth buying! However, if you don't like fast songs, and corny/cheerleader songs annoy you, then I must admit, this album is NOT for you =(.
Thanx 4 readin'!

Free Music Review: Avril Turns up the Guitars
Hit: 5 Stars

Leave it to Avril, when so many bands out there are going away from a rock sound to more of a whiny, lush, dreary "emo" style, she comes back with a semi-punk but mostly pop record with fast paced rock songs. THANK YOU!!! If I hear another song by Fall Out Boy or Panic At the Disco I think I will puke. Avril mixes it up here, providing huge hooks, catchy riffs, and her usual sarcastic lyrics. While the melodies are not always original, her attitude carries this over the top. Sure, she's a little rough at times, but she is way more tolerable than the boys who wear eyeliner and cry for three hours about why their girlfriends left them. This CD is a breath of fresh air, and people who take it too seriously should just not buy it. Avril had fun making this record, and it shows. To all the critics who lost the meaning of rock and roll over the past fifteen years, it is supposed to be fun at times. If you have a problem with Avril, take your stupid Nickleback and Killers CD's and go play them repeatedly in a dark corner somewhere. This CD will be blasting out of cars all summer long, all over the world. I LOVE IT!!
