Free Music Review: Avril, Why?
Hit: 2 Stars

I liked Avril's first two CDs and was looking forward to this one. But I have only one word to say about it - why?!

There are a few decent songs - "When You're Gone" and "Innocence". The rest of the tracks are just BAD. Avril is still singing songs that a 16 year old would sing. That was okay when that was her age group; but she really needs to grow up now.

Avril comes across as a snotty brat with a too-high opinion of herself on this album.

My advice - skip it and buy "Let Go" or "Under My Skin". While these aren't top-notch albums, they're still good, and WAY better than this "effort".

Free Music Review: Rebellious; but in a good way
Hit: 5 Stars

At first I was far from impressed with what I was hearing from Avril on this new album, asking myself why she had suddenly made the decision to switch from more or less radio-friendly music to a feisty punk-inspired series of jams with only a few ballads tossed in between; but then a couple listens later, it seems that perhaps this newly crafted style is even more to my liking. With straightforward angst-filled lyrics, Avril delivers a sound on this album which becomes exceedingly catchy after continual exposure. Although there are a few weak tracks (I find "Girlfriend" to be a slightly annoying choice for a hit, and the title track also isn't too impressive), they are negated in essence by the stronger tracks. My favorite would by far be the ballad "Innocence", whose soft piano and heartfelt vocals combine to make this probably my favorite piece from her thus far; I also quite enjoy "Runaway" (which contrasts acoustic guitar background with a harder guitar chorus) and "When You're Gone" (really good lyrics on this one; good choice for a hit). Overall, the new sound will take some getting used to, but at least for me it paid off in the end. The tunes are catchy, and in spite of some lyrical cliches, many of them are among Avril's best work. Personally this is my favorite of her CD's now. I would rate it either four and a half or five stars.

Free Music Review: Avril Lavigne CD
Hit: 5 Stars

My granddaughter (14) loves Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" CD; and through her enthusiasm, I have also begun to enjoy Avril's music.
Avril's musical diversity shines in this CD, and my granddaughter and I highly recommended it.

Free Music Review: 3rd A Charm
Hit: 4 Stars

After enjoying her previous two albums,I knew her next had to be good.I enjoyed it a lot.Avril kind of follows the same formula as the previous.Soft ballads and moderate rockers.Girlfriend,I Can Do Better,When You're Gone,Hot,Innocence and Keep Holding On continue that.If you liked her previous efforts, check this one out. It won't disappoint.A solid 4 stars.

Free Music Review: Clean version a relative term
Hit: 4 Stars

I bought the "clean version" for my 10 year old daughter. However, while they have taken out some of the words I don't really want my daughter hearing over and over, the words, "damn" and "hell" still remain within the songs. Just a heads up for any parents that think "clean" means it's completely free from any cursing.
