Free Music Notes for Under My SkinFree Music Review: Avrils Under My Skin... Hit: 5 Stars
really she is, all these songs are relatable in a freaky way, Nobodys Home is definately really close to home, but also theres some really upbeat fun tracks on this album
Track By Track:
Take Me Away: this song is a really...magical song, it kind of vulnable in a truely beautiful way, its also has a real good feelinga bout it, the track has verious vocal stylings and Techno and Rock and Acoustic elements all in one song!!
really relatable... 8/5
Together: This song is really feverish and at the same time slow and sad, similar to Take My Away but at the same time COMPLETELY different feel, vocally, it talks about how even though you have sentimental or emotionally feelings towards someone and wanting to get away from them.... Relatable 5*/5
Don't Tell Me: This is a truely kick song, its a song you have to have heard, its about someone wanting you for a reason thats not you!! again another 5*/5 song
He Wasn't: the only really poppy song on this part of the album, if you don't like it your sad, this is a really fun track, GIRL POWER!! 5/5
How Does It Feel: going on from the previous song this kind of shocks you in the reverse way Take Me Away does coming into the album, this song is a true ballad in every sense of the word and its a real FEEL GOOD track and its definately grounded and down to earth another 5*/5 track
My Happy Ending: this biggest track on this album, a real classic break up song with all the trimmings, the cuss in it gets the point across more, a real heart-break song!! 5*/5
Nobody's Home: A sad song about being confused and sad and not fitting in...really sad song another 5*/5 song
Forgotten: Debatably the darkest track on this album, really deep and strong and definately has a almost gothic edge too it but don't let it put you off, this is a definately cool track, STRONG to the furthest Degree 9/5
Who Knows: a slow starter again but it definately inspiring and fast and energetic, definatly feel good 10/5
Fall To Peices: debatably the only true love song on this CD, but it definately got a Avril Edge to it, sweeter then sweet, fave song at the momant 111/5
Freak Out: again in similar feeling to Who Knows without be filler or whatever, its feel good again 9/5
Slipped Away: song about her Grandpa slipping away, sweet ending ot this beautiful expressive, light and dark sweet and sour album
Recommended to almost any teenage girl with any taste but Lindsay Lohan fans of her second album will love this!! (Ditto with Hilary Duff fans and The Veronicas fans)

Free Music Review: Great sophomore album Hit: 5 Stars
Avril Lavigne has a great album on her hands again. "Let Go" will always be classic and may always be thought of as her best album since it was her first, but "Under My Skin" will be remembered as a great and mature follow-up that can stand on its own. Avril may have needed "Let Go" to get her foot in the door, but now she has the freedom and experience to share deeper and darker feelings with her audience. "Under My Skin" is definitely darker and she brings in new instruments like the piano and strings. She sings about heartbreak, frustration, and even death. The CD insert has some great photos of her too. All in all, this CD will definitely be playing in my CD player continuously for awhile.Songs: Take Me Away- Features Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle) on drums which is always a plus. This is a great song to start the album off on. It didn't stick in my brain like some other songs and the way she sings the chorus can get a little annoying, but I think it will grow on me. I really like the guitar in this one. Together- I love the piano in this. Again, the chrous gets on my nerves a little bit, but the piano is so awesome sounding that it cancels that slight negative out. Don't Tell Me- Great radio song. I loved it the first time I heard it. Great lyrics too. He Wasn't- I think this is one of the weaker songs on the album. How Does it Feel- Very mellow song. It really shows off Avril's singing abilities, in my opinion. Also, there are violins and other strings, which sound awesome. My Happy Ending- My favorite song on the album. The great thing of it is that the lyrics are negative, but the music isn't dark at all. Just a fabulous song. Will probably be the next single. Nobody's Home- One of my other favorite songs. I love the music and the lyrics are moving. I'm sure everyone has had the same feelings of hopelessness that you can hear in Avril's voice. Forgotten- Another song with Josh Freese on drums. It has the same feeling that "Unwanted" had from "Let Go". Just very angry. I like this one too. Who Knows- One of the only positive songs on the album. I like the versus, but the chorus kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Fall to Pieces- Good song overall. Freak Out- The beginning of this song rocks. Actually, the whole song rocks. Slipped Away- A very nice tribute to Avril's grandfather. Nice strings and piano too. I really can't stand pop music, but there is something about Avril that I love. Probably because she's the closest to rock you'll get out of that pond. I think she's a pretty talented artist who gets ragged on for no reason. Buy "Under My Skin"! You know you want to!!
Free Music Review: HARD RED CANDY APPLE AVRIL FOR NOW BEATLE PISTOL PEOPLE Hit: 5 Stars
God Save The Queen -- The Rodney On The Rock's Danger Field & Screamer -- The I Get No Street Cred And TRL Can Just Go To Hellion. For 10,000,000 Avril Fans Can't Be Wrong.
I don't know about you but in these hazy days when you can't tell oh how convenient from compassionate conservatism, when homeland security is obscenity who really cares all is tony blair, when this real old nowhere man knows he's got no home to go to, he makes a date to dance with the better angel of his nature, to ignore all alien orders and to get real gone for a change inside Avril's overflowing "Na Na, Na Na Na[s]" ...just to do some dreaming upside her song, "He Wasn't."
Now when the Straight People defeated The Rockers back on a cold dark rainy day in early November 2004, I went straight into the blues bin. A few daze later I emerged and somehow managed to throw on the album Under My Skin, and then along came Avril. And then she hit me like a diamond shot through the middle of my skull and she rightened by lightening my ship, even if but for the fleeting moment of a sweet little epiphany. In the midst of her pop-punk war against deep dark depression, the sunlight of joy in "Who Knows" wins the battle of the day. In the context of this album and these times, suddenly the saints come marching in and triumphantly bring it on: "Who knows what could happen/ Do what you do/ Just keep on laughing..." Now Nietzsche warned that "Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torments of man," but try and live for long without just a little bit of it.
Avril may party like a sinner but she has the voice of an angel, even if she has the edge of a deviled-ham showgirl. She has the insight of one sinned against as well: "Nobody's Home" is transcendent pop poetry. The words swim the depths of despair as the song spins in the air: "...Her feelings she hides/ Her dreams she can't find/ She's losing her mind/ She's falling behind/ She can't find her place/ She's losing her faith/ She's falling from grace/ She's all over the place yeah..." Beautifully sad and empathetic, it recalls the 1990's hit by Soul Asylum, "Runaway Train," but with both an update and an upgrade.
Both hard rock and alternative radio won't play the Canadian Queen Dream that is the La La Lavigne, even though she blows U2's latest "atomic bomb" completely out of the water. The Grammy Award nominations and the many Best Of 2004 Lists I've read all completely overlooked Avril. They blew it, man.
"Nobody's Home" is the best pop ballad of the year. Meanwhile Avril's big funtime and yet emotional rescue of herself that is Under My Skin, got way under and saved my skin like no other pop-punk-rock album of 2004.
Free Music Review: She's Done It Again.....But Better! Hit: 5 Stars
I wasn't sure if it could get too much better, but it did! Her follow up CD to Let Go was even better than her debut..which I loved also. If you like any of Avril's songs, you'll love this album!
Take Me Away (9/10) A great song, she sounds great and its fun to drum along to (pretend..as I have no drumset..lol) It's a good one. "My words are cold, I don't want them to hurt you.."
Together (10/10) Together is an awesome song, I love to sing along with it. And she sounds great as usual. "Together it doesn't feel right at all, together we've built a wall, together holding hands, we'll fall"
Don't Tell Me (10/10) Her catchy single, very girl-power (not in a Spice Girls Way..) It has a good message. Love it. "Did I not tell you that I'm not like that girl, the one who gives it all away"
He Wasn't (8/10) An upbeat, fun song. I like this fast chorus..It's a cool song. "this is when I start to bite my nails, and clean my room when all else fails"
How Does It Feel (9/10) This is a pretty, slower song. She sounds awesome on it. Good one! :)"How does it feel to be different from me, are we the same?"
My Happy Ending (10/10) My favorite song on the Album..so impossible not to sing along with..I LOVE it! And it's a very Avril song..great! "You were everything that I wanted, we were meant to be, supposed to be..but we lost it"
Nobody's Home (8/10) Not a bad song, but not my favorite. I think there are songs that should have been a single before this one, but its kind of deeper. "She wants to go home, but nobody's home..thats where she lies, broken inside"
Forgotten (7/10) This song is alright, I don't like the tune of the chorus..it seems like they just didn't get it right so they settled. I like some parts of this song a lot though. "have you forgotten, everything that wanted?"
Who Knows (9/10) Once again, great and catchy. "Who Knows what could happen do what you do, just keep on laughing. One things true, theres always a brand new day. I'm gonna live today like its my last day" Cool lyrics
Fall To Pieces (10/10) Another kinda pretty song, I like it a lot. It's one of my favorites. "And I don't wanna fall to pieces, I just wanna sit and stare at you" Good song!
Freak Out (10/10) Definitely one of my favorites on this CD...LOVE IT! And its such a me song, so its great. "I'm gonna close my eyes, I can't watch the time go by, I won't keep it inside, Freak Out leg it go!"
Slipped Away (7/10) Sad song about losing a loved one "I didn't get around to kiss you, goodbye on the hand"
Free Music Review: Under My Skin is an excellent album... Hit: 5 Stars
I enjoyed Let Go, but Under My Skin is way better. Let me start by saying Avril is nothing like any other singer out there, so she should not be compared to anyone; especially not Britney or Jessica. While she did not event her type of music, she does it better than anyone else. I also do not believe you could call Under My Skin a punk (rock) album, because unlike most punk (rock), you can actually understand Avril Lavigne's singing. Here is what I think of Under My Skin's songs:
1. Take Me Away-10/10. A great opening. Many songs have been made like this, but is the best one of it's kind.
2. Together-7/10. This is the only punk-like song on the entire CD. It's not the greatest song, but it's a good addition to the album.
3. Don't Tell Me-10/10. "Did You Think I Was Gonna Give It Up To You?" shows that Avril Lavigne still is not like other female singers who give themselves up to just about anybody, and also happens to make one of the best songs on the album.
4. He Wasn't-10/10. Probably the most "Let Go" type song on the CD, and would fit better on that album, but this song is still great, and one of the best on the CD.
5. How Does It Feel-2/10. This song isn't as bad as I say it is, but it is really repetitive, and after two minutes it begins to get really annoying.
6. My Happy Ending-10/10. A great song, and Avril's most hit song. People 20 years from now will remember this song.
7. Nobody's Home-10/10. The best song on the album, and a beautiful video. Almost as good as Complicated from Let Go, but not quite.
8. Forgotten-10/10. Probably the most Alanis Morissette CD on the album, but except for first Cd, Alanis hasn't made a good CD since, and Avril has.
9. Who Knows-10/10. There's always another day, but this song should be listened to today, or as soon as you get the CD. Another great song from the most talented teen to ever live.
10. Fall To Pieces-10/10. Rocky but about crying? It works for me.
11. Freak Out-10/10. Another great song as you reach the end of the record, Freak Out is another one of the best songs on the album.
12. Slipped Away-10/10. Sad and about Avril's recently deseeased Grandfather, you go out with a very touching song that probably no one has thought of writing a song about until now.
All In All, this is a great CD that anyone who even's like music to begin with should have. If you like this album, I also recommend Let Go, her first album along with this one. Don't miss out on Under My Skin in your CD collection, because you will be missing one of the most talented young singers on the face of the earth.
