More than likely, if you somehow found out about this album, you're a fan Eazy-E. From his hometown, recruiting two Compton half brothers BG Knocc Out and Dresta (Gangsta), comes with their album "Real Brothers". To me, this album was a lot better than I thought, especially since they were helping Eazy (who passed away around the time when this album came out) with his battle against Dr. Dre and everyone else who he was down with. Instead of an album full of those kind of disses, BG and Dresta kick some funky rhymes over some distinctive west coast production.
To my suprise, many banging tracks are on here. The dope fist single "Jelosy" is a reminissent track that takes you back to '95 instantly. The upbeat "Compton Swingin'" is another standout to me. "Life Is A Puzzle" is another west coast house party track full of gangsta topics. Other great songs on this album are "50/50 Luv", sort of a deep sounding track about brotherly love, as well as "All Day Every Day".
Songs like "Dogg Pound Gangsta Killaz" which is the obvious diss to Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and Warren G. (funny how they avoided saying Warren's name, since he was their label mate signed to Def Jam Records) could have been better (especially the hook), but the diss itself makes it a standout on this album. "Down Goes Anotha *****" could have been better too. The album closes off with "Livin' In '94 (O.G. Version)" which is solid, but doesn't stand out either (on the version that I have).
Overall great album by these two half brothers from Eazy's camp. Too bad no one was listening when it came out, because it is an underrated gem from the West Coast which was overshadowed by the popularity of their rivals and their albums. Fans of music from there should like this album, because its one you can't pass up, and being sold for high prices, It's not that good to pay no more than $40 at the most. They would later squash their beef and colab with Tha Dogg Pound on "Blaze It Up" on their Dogg Chit (+3 Bonus Tracks), check that out too. Peace.
