Free Music Review: Middle School Memories (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars)

I remember being in the 7th grade when this album dropped, I was just learning exactly who Cash Money was, as they haven't fully blown up yet. Juvenile's 400 Degreez had came out a few months earlier (but "Back That [Thang] Up" wasn't popular just yet). B.G. came out with Chopper City In The Ghetto with the lead single "Cash Money Is An Army". I really didn't catch on to that single. I'm sure everyone caught on Summer '99 when "Bling Bling" dropped. When The Box channel was still in existance, everyone requested that song. Not to mention how easy and quickly I was able to learn the song (hell, I even memorized the radio edit where Lil Wayne takes place of Turk's verse).
Aside from those two singles, the rest of the album was fire. "Trigga Play" always caught me because of the beat. "Real ******" was another one of my favorites. The production done by Mannie Fresh was pretty good for an album like this. Even the Hot Boys and Big Tymers don't fail in the guest spots (it always questioned me why they never featured any artists outside Cash Money back then). Lil' Wayne and Juve drops heat on "****** In Trouble". Hell, even Baby sounds good on "Made Man".
B.G's album was one of the few greats to come out of N.O. Given that with Juve's album, and Guerrilla Warfare comming out roughly at the same time, you see that "Cash Money Is An Army...Better Yet, A Navy..." It true and very unfortunate that B.G. left Cash Money. Also, this album should not be out of print, since it is one of the best selling albums on that label. This is one that is highly recommend who wants to take a trip down memory lane.
And BTW, since when do we knock the quality of an album due to it's cover? Yeah, it looks like something from No Limit, but there is no material from that group found here. Peace.
