Free Music Notes for B-Tribe 5Free Music Review: TWWANGGG--SO FANTASTIC AND THRILLING Hit: 5 StarsB-tribe is my favorite of all downtempo lounge jazz. And this is definitely my favorite of all their titles. Each successive album they put out is better than the last. Get this album you will not be disappointed.
Free Music Review: The vocals ruin the music Hit: 3 StarsJust as the other reviews say, the music is incredibly beautiful. It's a unique blend of music with great beats and wonderful spanish-flavored guitar. What ruins it is the vocals. Some of the music is interrupted with an off-key wailing male voice that sounds like something between an Arabic call to prayer and a Native American chant. It really ruins the relaxing mood of the music. The female vocal is a little better, but still it doesn't fit the music. Sometimes her vocals are Enya-seque, which is ok but a bit affected and overdone. Other times she sounds like she is straining to open a jar of peanut butter while she sings, or rather, wails. In another song she whispers her off-key wails, not unlike the kid in the old Mazda "zoom zoom" commercials. I know everyone wants to be a singer, so there's a big incentive for musicians to add vocals to their music at all costs. But in this case it detracts badly. If you could remove the annoying vocal tracks, especially the male off-key "wayayaya" vocals, this would be an A+ five star CD. I'm sorry to be so critical, but it is absolutely true. I wish more reviews here on Amazon were more critical, so they would let me know what I'm in for when I buy things. Seems like everyone just wants to give 5 stars to everything no matter how good or bad a book or CD is. Overall, buy the CD for the musical parts, but don't say you weren't forewarned.
Free Music Review: The Old B-Tribe is Back! Hit: 5 StarsThe old sounds of the B-Tribe (i.e., those from their first 2 albums) has returned! I almost didn't purchase "5" after being terribly disappointed in their last couple of records. This album, on the other hand, far exceeded my expectations. It is a combination of the styles used in their first two CDs. If you like Spanish Flamenco and the Enigma style of music, this is the CD for you.
Free Music Review: Takes you higher and higher Hit: 5 StarsIf music is a drug to some people than be careful because you might od from listening to this over and over again. Some music gets boring after awhile, especially from some of the "chill out" compilations but not to worry that that would happen here. I think it is the effect that B-Tribe music has on the human spirit; it is the calm after the storm. The music is hard to describe but it definitely has that otherworldly transendental feel, like floating on clouds to worlds unknown. Along the way angelic voices will come and go, combining with the rich electronic musings and stylish Spanish guitar solos, you are on a musical trip within the limitless boundaries of your imagination. There is a soothing fluidity to the music of B-Tribe, like a gentle wave of euphoria that takes over your body, beginning through your senses and enveloping your whole being. It is one of the coolest sounds around and ever so mellow. I like to listen to this disc while taking a morning walk along the local trails, the morning mist adds to the mystery of the sound, the clarity of the music is as sure as the sun rising over the mountains, the gentle thumping bass line is a metronome for my accelerated heart beat, the guitar licks move as swiftly as the river water flows to the city and B-Tribe moves me along observing nature from above, alongside and beyond. It is the song "Misterio"(Mystery), the Spanish sound of guitar and the evolution of a centuries old instrument and the gypsy spirit continuing its sojourn. The Arabic elements, the Asian influences and the Spanish all mesh together in an electronic rendering of spiritual world music that is better than most forays into world music. " Mi Alma Espanol " is an extremely interesting piece that features the vocals of one, Susan Carrol, for a change of pace that takes you deeper into the cathedral within. Based on a Medieval theme by the twelfth-century nun, mystic and prophet , Hildegard of Bingen, the fusing of guitar and voice is blended with aural textures to create an ambience of another place and time. It is a knockout. This is one of those discs that sounds good most any time of day or night because it creates it's own mood, taking over whatever state of mind you might have been in before and flushing your whole being. It is higher music if you will, music for the soul that leaves you feeling refreshed. I would definitely recommend this disc for anyone that likes world music or Spanish chill out that is some of the most relaxing music being recorded today.
