Bela recruits an all-star cast (including Flecktones Vic Wooten and Future Man) for this album. The technical virtuosity of all the players is often overshadowed by the musicality of the compositions. Each track compliments the surrounding tracks, and instead of an album of individual songs, it comes across as a bigger work, a suite or symphony if you will.It is easy to delve deeply into the music, studying its intracacies and nuances, but it is just as easy to use the album as light listening or background music.
With guest appearance (often on a number of tracks) by Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas and Bruce Hornsby among others, 'Tales from the Acoustic Planet' is sure to become a mainstay of your listening repertoire.
Be forwarned, though; don't expect the same attitude as a Flecktones album, but do expect the same high level of music.
