Free Music Notes for Sooner or Later

Free Music Review: NOT ALL that SPECIAL.
Hit: 3 Stars

"Sooner Or Later" definately has some very good songs on it, my favorite is "Gohst Of You And Me" which is the song that i bought the CD for, unfortunatley there isnt anything else on there quite like it, but there is some good tracks, "Unpredictable" i especialy like as well as the two that have already being released. But there isnt much else on there that stands out, the songs all seem to blend together and sound similar to eachother. If you realy like the style of "Back Here" get this, but if it was "Gohst Of You And Me" that you like you might want to skip it.

Free Music Review: Catchy and fun to listen to...
Hit: 5 Stars

Nearly all my favourite bands are American (Nine Days, Vertical Horizon, Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, etc...), which is why it's nice to finally be able to add a British group to the list. BBMak are very different to my normal music preferences, and I was surprised to find myself liking "Sooner or Later" so much. I bought the CD on impulse after hearing "Back Here" and have never regretted it. The songs vary between up-tempo and irresistibly catchy (Back Here, Next Time) and slow, emotional ballads (Ghost of You and Me, Can't Say). Some of the best songs include:

Back Here - BBMak's extremely catchy debut single. Guaranteed to stay in your head all day. Great rhythm and cool lyrics.

Ghost of You and Me - This is a beautiful, haunting ballad. The lyrics, vocals and instrumentals are amazing and memorable. My absolute favourite song on the album.

Love on the Outside - Short, sweet and very catchy. One of my favourite songs on the CD.

This is one of those CDs that you can listen to all the way through without having to skip any of the tracks. BBMak have a unique sound that is catchy without being annoying. I still prefer the Matchbox 20/ Nine Days type of music, but this was an excellent CD that is well worth the money. I hope that BBMak will be around for a long time yet.

Free Music Review: Good singers, decent music, poor recording
Hit: 3 Stars

I bought this after catching them on TRL (many months ago) and thinking that "Back Here" was a good song, that the guys had good voices and harmonized well, and -- I will admit -- that they are all quite handsome. It's this latter aspect that makes them a "boyband." If it weren't for their fresh-scrubbed cheeks, they might get more props from some who think that unkempt=cool.

My biggest complaint with this album is that the recording quality is mediocre at best and borderline unlistenable at times. Everything is so compressed that the life is taken out of it. I can only imagine how much more beautiful their voices would sound if recorded well. Most songs are so overprocessed that they sound more suited for AM radio than a high quality stereo. I listen mostly to pop music, so I'm used to "unnatural" sounding recordings, but this is over the top. Hopefully BBMak will be able to record a sophomore effort and their engineers will use a lighter hand with the compressors.

Free Music Review: Solid, guilt-free debut effort by a real boy band
Hit: 4 Stars

Whether you've enlisted a volunteer militia to crush the boy band craze or consider it the Eighth Wonder of the Modern World, this first release from BBMak might serve as a temporary peace compromise. It's loaded with remarkably un-boy band-like talent and simultaneously delivers a bounty of fabulous good looks and sexy voices. The naysayers can be grateful for a few things-this British trio doesn't dance, they don't wear matching clothing, and, if you can believe this, they write their own songs and play their own instruments.

While it may be easy to lose BBMak's freshman venture into pop stardom amidst the plethora of shrink-wrapped ear (and eye) candy, the guys manage to create a mature sound ripe with vocal sophistication and tight arrangements. Their smooth harmonies balance a post-hormonal sensibility with the sweetness of pop's sucrose-coated tributes to eternal love; and somehow they avoid sounding like they're actively trying to woo the preteen and under crowd.

"Sooner or Later" naturally comes with enough radio-friendly tunes to earn the album a spot on one of Gen Y's hallowed rungs of pop, but at least they've cracked a dent in the genre by offering a blend of upbeat songs that don't reek with the repetitive and recycled pulsations of their contemporaries and with a batch of equally cool ballads. Radio favorites like "Back Here" and "Still On Your Side" anchor BBMak's light guitar-infused sound and provide the happy but not too sappy chords that carry the album. Songs such as "Can't Say" and "Ghost of You and Me" round out the collection by lending heartfelt swells of amorous devotion.

The lack of burdensome electronica and whiny heartache on this album automatically earns BBMak some music points. Take this CD for a few spins in the player and before long you'll find yourself humming to the first real boy band effort rooted in, simply, music.

Free Music Review: EXCELLENT!
Hit: 5 Stars

BBMak is incredible. Their music is a great weave between pop music that is dominating the radio today, and rock. All of the songs have a distinct melody that is easy to pick up on. The guys are not just pretty faces, they have really nice voices, and hit all of the notes with ease .... My favorite tracks on the album are "Back Here" (a great catchy song), "Love in Unpredictable" (one of those songs that I find myself rocking to and belting out in the shower) and "Ghost of You and Me (which is a beautiful ballad with a cool guitar tacet at the beginning). Those are just a few of the many gems on this album.
