I have been listening to Yo Yo Ma and Lynn Harrel for a long time, yes they are marvelous! I saw in the Gramophone magazine ( a British publication) Fournier's as well as Casal's versions were rated top. Well, since Bach sonatas, partitas, and variations (Piano, Violin, and Cello) put me through a religious experience I am ordering Pierre Fourniere's recording today. I will keep you posted.

November 25, 2008- I see that I displeased some tough customers. Which is totally understandable! I needed time to listen to these masterworks, this Eight Marvel of the World. Listen I did, some partitas and partita movements maybe a hundred times in about that many days. I do take daily-2-hour walks on the beach!

If you listen to Bach, love Cello as a musical instrument, enjoy intellectual, substantial, meaty music and have not heard Fournier's recordings of these Cello Suites DO NOT WASTE ANOTHER MOMENT! Oftentimes words are inadequate to describe a musical composition or a performance. This is one of those occasions.

I do not believe a mortal man can write this music, neither do I belive it's possible perform it, as it's on this set. It never gets old!
