Free Music Review: An amazing young musician
Hit: 5 Stars

I will admit up front I am a huge fan of this young lady - from the moment I heard her first recording of the Bach Partitas recording in 1997 when she was 16 years old. Flawless technique, mature-beyond-her-years interpretation, and the sweetest violin you will ever hear. She is the only violinist I have heard that reminds me of the late great David Oistrakh. She is in my opinion the top of the class of the new breed of violinists. I own all of her recordings and had the privilege to meet her personally; she is as sweet as she plays. Unassuming and humble, what you see on stage is exactly what you get in person. I highly recommend this recording along with her other releases.

Free Music Review: Aw, buy it already. It's Bach for cryin' out Loud
Hit: 5 Stars

I purchased this cd after watching a re-run of Children of A Lesser God, where William Hurt's character, James Leeds, tries in frustration to demonstrate track five, the sublime Concerto for 2 Violins, Strings, and Continuo in D minor, truly God's own music. Heartfelt, like listening to children laugh in the next room, or stepping into a stream on a hot humid day. Cheesy allusions, but pleasant none the less.

I will say that even though this disk is short, it will not disappoint, if for nothing else than the sense of wonder you will have at Hahn's astonishing achievement of youthful perfection.

Free Music Review: beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm quite stunned. I knew these works well and they had no surprises for me... then I heard these faster and lighter versions, and I realize something important for you to know: if you like strong music, modern playing with emphasis, you will like this, because it has the right way to treat emotions also. If you like chamber music based on early instruments, you will prefer other kind of playing and sound. It's still a great rendition anyway. You know, it's amazing how a violin player can play baroque and romantic at the same time without being pretentious. This is talent, for sure.

Free Music Review: Excellent
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a fine recording. Hahn gives a virtuoso performance, the orchestral playing is first rate and the other soloists are equally excellent. I can't agree with other reviewers who feel that choice of tempi is a problem. What I perceive is a deliberate choice to avoid marked modulation of tempo within a given movement, in contrast to more romantic styles of performance. Whether or not you rate this recording a 5 or a 4 is a matter of individual taste, but this is a modest degree of differentiation.

Free Music Review: WOW! Bach would be so proud of you Hilary.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have absolutely loved all the CDs that Hilary has recorded, although, this is her very best CD to date! I opened it several days ago and am still listening to it a few times a day. Sit down with a pair of head phones and study the amazing precision and passion that she injects into these old favorites. I have yet to hear another recording of these songs I enjoy more. Bravo Hilary! Can't wait to see what you tackle next. I would love to see you record a CD of Handel's water music. Hint Hint :O)
