Another reviewer of this recording (elsewhere on this web page) interestingly suggests that "this pieces" [sic] are conducted "fast ... to force them all into one CD (I haven't got any other record that has all 4 in 1)."

Well, try Sir Neville Marriner, conducting the Orchestra of the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, on a single Decca CD, for one. Or Martin Pearlman, conducting "Boston Baroque" (a period-instrument ensemble), on a single Telarc CD, for another.

Conspiracy theories aside, I am not sure that orchestral conductors per se (let alone recording company executives) have a significant vested interest in "forcing" as much music onto a single CD as possible.

Naxos, the company behind this particular CD, has a well-earned reputation for releasing classical recordings of high quality (such as this one) at an affordable price, for which this listener is thankful.
