Most people just sit here and write off this CD as 'garbage' and 'a waste of money', stuff like that. I feel that this CD was for sure not a waste of my money. There's so much to love about this CD. Sure the sound has changed slightly, but change isn't always bad!Certainly not in this case. Everyone seems to think that 'The Call' was a not so great song, but I think it's very catchy and I think it's great that they took a different approach with that. That was a huge step on their part. And when people tell you that this CD has similarities to N'Sync, they are wrong. I have listened to N'Sync's newer CD and Black and Blue may have song titles that are close to N'Sync's, but that's where the similarity ends. The guys can sing, as a matter of fact, they can do it better than any other band that is classified in the 'boyband' category. I wouldn't even place them in that category anymore. This CD proves to me that the guys are going to be around for a long time. More highlights of the CD are tracks such as 'Not For Me' and the newest hit 'More Than That'. The guys' voices blend together so perfectly on this album. I could never find another band that comes close to these guys.In my eyes, this CD is a definite keeper and if you don't own this, go out and buy it. You won't be sorry.One last thing-Kevin needs more singing parts! His voice is very pleasant..Free Music Review: Backstreet Have Outdone Themselves!

These are 5 grown-up men with a growing musical talent all their own! On Black & Blue they have expanded their horizons and explored new ways of expressing their art form. Very different from Millenium. A lot of R&B flavored tunes which I love ("Shining Star", "Yes I Will"), beautiful ballads ("How Did I Fall in Love With You", "It's True"), Latin-influenced tunes ("More Than That", my personal fav.) and of course classic Backstreet such as "The Answer to Our Life", "Everyone" and "Shape of My Heart". There are even funky beats like "Get Another Boyfriend" and "Not For Me". But, if you are an avid fan you most certainly will fall head over heels in love with these guys all over again. I am telling you, they ROCK! With each new album that comes out, they have been getting more and more involved in the songwriting process. Two songs on the cd were written by the "boys". Excuse me, MEN. They definetly have gotten too grown up for me to use the word "boy" when describing this hot group of men. I cannot get enough of them!... You will not be disappointed in the least. This is the most amazing cd I have heard in a long time! If you love the Backstreet Boys then support the cause and join the ranks of millions of fans all around the world.Free Music Review: They're no longer a sellout boyband!

Okay so they're still a boyband but at least they have talent. In this album, we find the boys writing and composing some of the songs on this album as well as playing a few instruments in it. Their harmonies and skills have increased a lot since their debut too. There's no more choreography and posing from them. It's hard to call them a boyband now really. They're not even boys anymore! More of an adult singing quintent. To me, this is the BSB's most mature album. The quintent has been around for quite a while now and most of their fans have grown up and developed new tastes along with them. There's plenty for everyone in this album. I didn't find a single trace of sellout manufacturing unlike the first and second albums and hints of it on their third. This one is very different. Some people absolutely hate their change of sound and their more adult-contemporary ballads with the theme about marriage and bonding. Of course there are a few tunes that sound like their previous albums but those few still have meaning to them now rather than before.
Overall, this is a great album for those who want to listen to pop music that didn't require selling out. This is what pop music should be like! I've always been a rock fan and listened to bands like Aerosmith, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, etc... but the Backstreet Boys have earned the respect.

Great CD!! These Boys are awesome. My ratings from the worst (0), to the best, (10)1. The Call--a great dance favorite. Everyone loves it. 10+
2. Shape Of My Heart--EVERYONE LOVES THIS 1 2!!! THIS IS AWESOME!! One of my favorites ever!!!! Get Another Boyfriend--Not as fast as the call, but really nice and catchy. 10
4. Shining Star--I don't like this one as well, but Nick you do write great music. u 2 Howie. 7 1/2
5. I Promise You--Sweet, Backstreet!! I like it!! 10
6. The Answer To Our Life--All the Boys wrote this one, and it's really good about solving world problems. GREAT! 10++
7. Everyone--I like it!! A song to their fans, and the lyrics, to me, reached farther than Larger Than Life. 10++
8. More Than That--Beautiful, very much like Spanish Eyes, a beautiful song written in minor. 9
9. Time--All the Boys wrote this one, and I like it too. It's about the changing of time. 9 1/2
10. Not For Me--AJ, great song. A milder version of Don't Want You Back. 9 1/2
11. Yes I Will--It's alright. A bit 2 soft. 8
12. It's True--Kevin!!! GREAT SONG!! How Did I Fall In Love With You--Howie!!!!!! You guys write great music. guys are awesome!!! My favorites!!! WAAAY better than N Stink!!!

this is my opinion of the whole album1.The Call-not exactly my FAVE song,but its pretty good,and kinda cute. 2.Shape Of My Heart-really sad,sweet,beautiful,thoughtful.though it kinda reminds me of "I want it that way" 3.Get Another Boyfriend-ive been waiting for this song forever.this is the perfect song for alot of my friends relationships 4.Shining Star-cute,and sexy.i love when they try to be sexual but secretive about it 5.I Promise You,With Everything I am-i love this song!its sweet and i cant wait for the day til a guy says this to me,with meaning 6.The Answer To Our Life-i love this song because ive been here before. 7.Everyone-i love this song...it shows how far they have come and how much they love us fans 8.More Than That-ive been in relationships like the one they sing about and it made me cry when i heard it. 9.Time-its a sweet song about their unbreakable love for eachother. 10.Not For Me-I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!its one of my all time faves,its sexy,bitter,angry...and bone chilling good. 11.Time-a sweet song about how far theyve come along 12.Its True-very Backstreet.and very cute 13.How Did I Fall In Love With You-this is by far my most favorite song on the whole album,its beautiful and so sweet and endearing,they did the best job with this song.i love it.
