Free Music Review: A GREAT CD FROM A GREAT GROUP
Hit: 5 Stars

I sort of defy what a "typical" BSB fan is. I'm a guy. That's right. I'm a guy who knows good music when he hears it and this is it! I have been a BSB fan since '96 and I will always be one. BSB are true, genuine, caring, and talented young men who deserve all of the fame they get. It burns me to hear people bring them down when they know nothing about them. Yes,they do write much of their own music, yes ,they can play instruments. So what do you BSB-haters have to say now? The guys represent pop music perfectly. They're not rock and they're not opera. THEY'RE POP so get off their backs! I thought "Millennium" was about as good as it gets. It's perhaps the finest pop work of the 90's and every song was a pop masterpiece. Then B&B came and I think that musically,it tops Millennium. BSB wrote or co-wrote seven of the tracks and did a mighty good job! Here are my song ratings: 1. "The Call"-4/5 Great beat. Impossible not to sing to. 2."Shape of My Heart"- 5/5 Adults and kids alike love this one. 3."Get Another Boyfriend"-5/5 A ptential radio dominator 4."Shining Star"-4/5 Great R&B sound and fantastic dance tune (Co-written by Nick Carter and AJ McLean of the group) 5."I Promise You (With Everything I Am)-3/5 My least favorite. Still a good song, but the lyrics are just bland. 6."Answer To Our Life"-5/5 I LOVE this song. One of the best pop songs I've ever heard. It's catchy and well-written and even the critcs love it!!! (Written by BSB themselves) 7."Everyone"-4/5 Good dance song, but not as blissfully fine as some of the others. 8."More Than That"-5/5 Beautiful ballad. Has a sort of tropical feel and definately has potential. 9."Time"-4/5 Fine as far as ballads go. Good lyrics, good harmonies, nice song. (Written by BSB themselves) 10."Not For Me"-4/5 Jamming uptempo. Crank it up and enjoy. 11."Yes I Will"-5/5 Mature lyrics and gorgeous song (Co-written by AJ McLean of the group) 12."It's True"-4/5 Like something out of a dreamland, kick back and relax.(Co-written by group member Kevin Richardson) 13."What Makes You Different(Makes You Beautiful)-5/5 FANTASTIC! Wonderful harmonies and fantastic lyrics. Member Howie D has a great talent at writing! (Co-written by group member Howie D) 14."How Did I Fall In Love You)5/5-Mature and beautiful, this song can make anyone cry with angelic vocals and wonderful string arrangement.(Co-written by group member Howie D) So for those of you that think pop music is dying,WAKE UP! BSB ARE BACK! Pop music isn't dying. Popular opinion is being shunned and radio programmers are thinking of their own tastes ahead of its listeners. BSB are better than ever! They are not a "boy-band" to their devoted and loving fans. Open your mind and give it a listen. Thank you for reading.

Free Music Review: Awesome album
Hit: 5 Stars

Backstreet Boys' "Black & Blue" is by far the best CD that I've ever own. It's got great up-tempo's, mid-tempo's, and ballads. You can tell the guys have put a lot of effort into this album. They've written or co-written half of the CD. The guys not only sing but also teach in this album, an example is the song "The answer of our life". It isn't a love song. It's more like a call for people to help others, and take the stand to what they believe in, not just sitting there and hoping something'll fall down from the sky. It also suggests how I am with my friends.....if you know what I mean. Yup yup, that's my favorite song off the album.

"Time" is also a great song in my opinion too. It's basically about the guys, about what they've been through. The ballads in this album are stronger than ever.

The bonus track "What makes you different (Makes you beautiful)"'s got great messages behind it. Don't be afraid to be different 'cuz, "You've got your own kind of style, That sets you apart. Baby, that's why you've captured my heart." And what's inside of you is a lot more important than what's outside.

Other ballads like "I promise you (With everything I am)", "More than that", and "How did I fall in love with you", "Yes I will", really show these guys' vocal abilities. They've got great harmonies. In my opinion, they're one of the best singers that I know.

The mid-tempo's are wonderful. As I've mentioned before, the song "The answer to our life" is a mid-tempo and it's my favorite song off the album. I'm sure ya'll know "Shape of my heart". There's one part of that song that I don't really get....."Sadness is beautiful, lonliness is tragical". Well I guess I understand it to some extense. I take it as it's better to be sad than to be lonely, and I agree with it. Or maybe it's just too deep for me to understand it lol.

The up-tempo songs aren't bad either. In fact, they're awesome as well. I admit it, I don't think the lyrics are as good as the ones in the ballads, but I think up-tempo songs' lyrics were never meant to have deep meanings. But on the other hand, musical wise, they're great. My favorite part is in "Get another boyfriend" when Brian sings, "I'm telling you to go get on with your life...." I think the reason why I love it so much is 'cuz I can relate to it. I love the music also. I love the fact that these kind of songs get me pumped up, I'm still more into ballads and mid-tempo songs though.

I highly suggest everyone go out and get the album, you'll learn a lot from it. But I'm also aware that not everyone likes the same kind of music so.....hehe I can't force you to get it, just telling you that B&B really is an awesome album.

Free Music Review: MORE MATURE AND A FINE EFFORT
Hit: 5 Stars

A lot of people didn't think BSB could do better than their 3rd (international) album Millennium. Millennium was a fine work of pop music and is also one of the bestselling albums of this generation, but Black and Blue in its material I think is better. It's more mature and deals with different messages from heartbreak to moving on away from bad relationships. Even trying to find ways to help our world (Answer To Our Life) and finding beauty in everything (bonus track: What Makes You Different) The Backstreet Boys work hard and they deserve the success they get. Here are my grades for each song:

The Call: B /The 2nd single off the album was and is a cool uptempo, but just didn't get the reception it deserved here in the US. It did extremely well in the UK and Canada, though.

Shape of My Heart: A /Beautiful and the huge hit thus far from the album going #1 in numerous countries and #9 in the US. The vocals are gorgeous and so are the lyrics.

Get Another Boyfriend: A+ / Now THIS is what I call an uptempo! Great message and great beat! I really wish this would have been the 2nd single instead of The Call.

Shining Star: A /What I would call "the dirty track" off B&B. It's cool and has awesome vocals. Was written by Howie and Nick,I think.

I Promise You: B/One of the lesser ballads BSB has done, but still is a good song, The harmonizing is good and the ending is gorgeous.

Answer To Our Life: A+/Written by all of the members, this is a very catchy pop tune.It has a cool intro and a fantastic message about helping our world.

Everyone: C+/Average. It has the same sort of message as "Larger Than Life." It's a cool dance track, though.

More Than That: A+/Fantastic! It was the 3rd single off of B&B and did very well internationally reaching #1 on the world radio chart and was a hit in the US going to #27. Beautiful chorus and one of BSB's best!

Time: A/Again,written by all of the members and produced by Babyface,BSB's harmonies in it are top notch and has a great message about the guys themselves.

Not For Me: A+/ Now this is what I'm talking about! Awesome uptempo with funky beat! I've heard that it is the 4th single, but then again,I've also heard that BSB are releasing a brand new song,so I don't know. This would do awesome, though.

Yes I Will: B-/ Cowritten by AJ,this is a nice slower R&Bish track.

It's True: B+/ Beautiful ballad written by Kevin. The lyrics are a little shaky but the melody and vocals are great.

How Did I Fall In Love With You: A++++/ It's impossible to put into words this song. Cowritten by Howie, this shows immensely just how talented BSB are! Howie is DEFINATELY a talented songwriter.

This is a worthy purchase. BSB ARE talented artists and they deserve recognition. Keep up the good work!

Free Music Review: CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT...I CALL IT MUSIC...
Hit: 5 Stars

Well, it's the fourth outing for the BSB (but the third 'successful' album), and the guys are at it again - and they didn't keep their fans waiting for long. How is the music on this album? Good. Although it isn't the consistent hit factory that 'Millenium' was (thanks to Max Martin), there are some spectacular moments on this album that easily make it worth owning. Allow me to break it down track by track:

1. The Call: This song is produced by Max Martin. A good one. Funky, like NSync...and about a surprising subject for the otherwise wholesome BSB...cheating!

2. Shape of My Heart: Another Max Martin song...and a great one - but what is this song really about?

3. Get Another Boyfriend: EASILY...THE BEST FAST SONG ON THE ALBUM. Yes, it's by Max Martin, with an assist by Rami (Bye Bye Bye & It's Gonna Be Me)

4. Shining Star: Although Rodney Jerkins is a good producer, this song is filler...

5. I Promise You: Uhh...okay - but it has a nice R&B feel to it.

6. The Answer To Our Life: YES...this sounds like 'Millenium' material, and it's catchy. I like it. It'll remind you a bit of the song "American Pie"...and it has that BRIGHT sound to it.

7. Everyone: So so...but it's fast, funky and somewhat memorable.

8. More Than That: Now, here's that excellent ballad that we were looking for. Killer use of violins on this track...The harmonies on this song are incredible. This track better be released as a single...

9. Time: Produced by Babyface. It's good - but it's not a surefire hit in my opinion...will have to grow on me. I will say this though - it's the most mature song on the album - it has substance.

10. Not For Me: The most painful listen on the album. Why? This song is what happens when you cross pollinate "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me"...and the obvious similarity just bugged the heck outta me. This was a straight rip-off of NSync.

11. Yes I Will: The third good ballad on this album. Loved it. Very R&B.

12. It's True: You heard this on those Burger King CDs...it's okay...

13. How Did I Fall In Love With You: Strictly for the Howie D fans, this song is one of those 'I've-bared-my-soul-so-please-don't-reject-me songs' that are wonderful for those who can relate, and just plain sickening for those who can't. I'm on the borderline...

So there it is. I honestly thought 'Millenium' was an excellent CD, and would be difficult to top. I think that the BSB played it pretty safe with this one, and the results are fabulous. But then again, don't take my word for it - hear it yourself...but I assure you, 'Black & Blue' delivers the goods. Good job fellas...

Knyte (Trust Me)

Free Music Review: BSB has done it again!
Hit: 5 Stars

This was a very effective and amazing CD by Backstreet Boys. They show
their true vocal talent in this album. Highly creative and a more
mature look at the Boys, this is worth more than five stars.

1. The
Call: A fast, upbeat way to start an album. It has a very danceable
tune and a very catchy chorus. 8.5/10

2. Shape of My Heart: A soft,
sweet, song that kind of sounds like I Want It That Way. But I likes
Brian's intro to the song. 7.5/10

3. Get Another Boyfriend: Very
different, I especially like the chorus. AJ's voice rings out in this
track. 8.5/10

4. Shining Star: This song was okay, to tell you the
truth. Very nice music, good beat, and very danceable. (Nice Effort,
Nick and Howie)

5. I Promise You (With Everything I Am): Very soft,
gentle, and sweet. Brian sounds like an angel in this
one. 9.5/10

6. The Answer To Our Life: My favorite song on this
whole album. It has a dynamic chorus, (is it today or is it
tonight/we'll find/the answer to our life)A fantastic song written by
BSB! 100/10 (Congrats, BSB)

7. Everyone: This song to my opinion was
the weakest in the whole album. It is dedicated to all BSB fans, and
sounds like Everybody. 6.5/10

8. More Than That: Very heartmelting,
and sweet. I like the chorus too. (I would say the worst/and take them
back)Very slow and touching. 8.5/10

9. Time: Reminds of All I Have
To Give but it has a better chorus. Not repitive like *N Sync, and the
guys sound vague and breathless. Very different view of the
boys. 8.5/10

10. Not For Me: Sounds a bit like 98 Degrees, the
snapping part in I Do or The Gift by 98 degrees. But its nice and good
for a slow dance at a party.

11. Yes I Will: Very nice song. It
talks about what the Boys would do for a girl. Very nice. I like the
chorus. 7.5/10

12. It's True: I like the tempo to this song it has a
faint R & B edge to it. Very fast nd upbeat. A So-So
Track. 6.5/10

13. How Did I Fall In Love With You: A very sad way to end an album. It has slow piano music in the background and the lyrics are absolutely perfect. In this song all the boys voices are combined to produce excellent harmony. Each of their voices stand out. 9.5/10

Overall it was a very good album. No major
dissapointments. I especially liked the way they put photos of each
Backstreet Boy on seperate pages. They all look great! Nice Job. Best
CD ever!
