Free Music Notes for MillenniumFree Music Review: OPTIMISM FOR THE MASSES Hit: 5 Stars
Everyone has been associated with this amazing album at one time or another. BSB out did themselves with a beautiful pop mixtures of dance tunes, ballads, and hit-worthy midtempos. "Millennium" spawned one of the best pop songs of all time entitled "I Want It That Way" which will have the stoniest heart singin along after a listen. The Backstreet Boys are a fantastic group indeed for those open-minded enough to listen with their optimistic tunes of love or moving on because there is better. Even almost two years later,I listen to it regularly. Here are the tracks and my opinion on each one: 1.Larger Than Life-4/5 A song for the fans! What more could U ask for? Great guitar solo, very dancable, good uptempo (Cowritten by Brian Littrell.) 2.I Want It That Way-5/5 This one speaks for itself. There is noone who has not heard this great pop tune at one time or another. 3.Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely-5/5 More serious in tone and meaning, but the guys pull it off wonderfully. fantastic pop ballad. 4.It's Gotta Be You-5/5 The BEST umptempo that BSB has ever done, and unfortunately,it was never released as a single. Why,I'll never know. Give a listen to that chorus and you'll see what I mean. 5.I Need You Tonight-3/5 My least favorite on the album. I do not care for Nick Carter's lead vocals, but he still tries his best and the song IS nice, just not my cup of tea. 6.Don't Want You Back-4/5 Good umptempo with a more down-turned message about moving on with your life after a bad relationship. 7.Don't Wanna Lose You Now-5/5 Terrific ballad with a classic pop sound and nice vocals by the guys themselves. One of my favorite BSB ballads. 8.The One-5/5 From this song on is where the album really takes off with maturity and fantastic vocals. "The One" is great optimistic song that will have you soaring in no time. (Cowritten by Brian Litrell) 9.Back To Your Heart-5/5 Capable of making almost anyone cry. They show a lot of emotion in this ballad (Cowritten by Kevin Richardson) 10.Spanish Eyes-5/5 A soft rock beauty. Amazing vocals. 11.Noone Else Comes Close To You-5/5 Another great soft rock gem. Would have been a great single. 12.The Perfect Fan-5/5 A dedication to their moms. You couldn't have asked for more. (Cowritten by Brian Litrell) Now,"Millennium" is more flowing, but if it's more maturity and depth U want as well as a show off of BSB's writing abilities, check out their fourth and most recent studio album "Black and Blue." Both albums are worth every penny. Thank you for reading.
Free Music Review: This is one of the albums that shows that the Backstreet Boys are maturing Hit: 5 Stars
OK, before we go any farther here, I want to point out something that I probably should've pointed out a long time ago. I'm 18 years old and I am still a Backstreet Boys fan. I have been listening to them since the later half of 1998 and I still listen to them today in 2006. These guys are one of my favorite singing groups (the Beach Boys happen to be my other favorite). I am going to try something different in this review... I am going to rate each song, just like I have seen other reviewers doing. So, here goes.
1. Larger Than Life- this is one of my favorites on this CD. Nick and Brian are my favorite Backstreet Boys by the way.
2. I Want it That Way- Another one of my Favorites... I don't think I've seen the video for this one yet... although I have seen the Burger King version of this video, back in the day when Burger King was sponsering these guys (Or something like that), but I have never seen the actual video.
3. Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely- This one I HAVE seen the video for. It is kind of sad, but it's very good.
4. It's gotta Be You- I don't normally listen to this song much, but I like it all the same.
5. I Need You Tonight- Yay! Nick gets a solo on this song! This one is really good to listen to. When the Boys first started out, this song used to be called Heaven In Your Eyes or something like that. I don't know what the full story behind this one is, though.
6. Don't Want You Back- I love this song too. In the Burger King special, my favorite part is where AJ goes "BSB 2000 Break it down for me Rok" when they are perfoming this one in the Video.
7. Don't Wanna Lose You Now- I don't really care for this song, hardly.
8. The One- This is another good song by BSB. Again one of my Favorite Backstreet Boys gets a solo.
9. Back To Your Heart- I like this one, another one of my favorites.
10. Spanish Eyes- Great Song. This is a song where I think mostly Brian and Howie get to sing lead vocals.
11. No One Else Comes Close- I think that is what this song is called. I don't pay much attention to this one anyway so it really doesn't matter.
12. The Perfect Fan- This song is awesome! Brian Littrell did a wonderful job with the lyrics as well as with the backing choir that sang with them. Good Job, Brian!
There! I did it! Anyway, I highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes the Backstreet Boys.
Free Music Review: A great album for everyone! Hit: 5 Stars
Its a little over 8 years since the Backstreet Boys came out with Millennium. But the album is still considered a classic. In its first week, the album sold 1.4 million copies, a record for the time. Unbreakable, the Backstreet Boy's latest album, just came out and only sold 81,000 copies a week; I personally think it should have sold at least 300,000, it is a great album. But Millennium will always be the Boy's most popular album and I agree. From 1 to 10, here are my ratings on each song:
1) LARGER THAN LIFE- This song is an excellent pop rock dance song that incorporates superb vocals with exciting music- 10/10
2) I WANT IT THAT WAY- The most famous Backstreet Boys song ever and its one of my favorite songs, excellent vocals- 10/10
3) SHOW ME THE MEANING OF BEING LONELY- Extremely sad song and shows the Boy's maturity as a group, excellent instrumentation and vocals- 10/10
4) ITS GOTTA BE YOU- Not a bad song, but not up to par with the first 3 songs on the album, a good dance song- 8/10
5) I NEED YOU TONIGHT- All who sings here is Nick(except the ending), but he does a superb job with the song- 9/10
6) DON'T WANT YOU BACK- The group said they wanted this to be the 4th single, except Nick who picked The One, I think either would have done well- 9/10
7) DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU NOW- Great vocal performance from all the boys in this song, but its a little generic- 8/10
8) THE ONE- A great song, on par with Don't Want you Back and its good as a single. But its not on par with the first 3 singles- 9/10
9) BACK TO YOUR HEART- A lovely slow love song- 8/10
10) SPANISH EYES- My least favorite song on this album, but its still a competent song- 7/10
11) NO ONE ELSE COMES CLOSE- A slow paced song that has a good tune and vocals- 8/10
12) PERFECT FAN- Wonderful way to end this album, this song is about how much the Boy's love their mother's. I love this song because it shows how important your mother is to you- 10/10
CONCLUSION- Millennium is and will always be the Backstreet Boys best album. There current album, Unbreakable, comes close to Millennium's footsteps, but Millennium still wins in my book. In order, from best to worst is: Millennium,Unbreakable, Backstreet Boys, Never Gone, and Black & Blue. I give Millennium a 4.6 out of 5.
Free Music Review: The Twelve Reasons to Buy Backstreet Hit: 5 Stars
1. Larger Than Life: What a way to start an album! This #1 hit song shows fan appreciation in such a strong way, you can't help but listen to the next track.2. I Want It That Way: Another #1 worth every second of the airtime it has gotten. The vocals, the melody, the lyrics.. how can you resist? 3. Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely: Starts off strong and though the meaning of the song is a little hazy, the harmonies are just beautiful. Yet another #1. 4. It's Gotta Be You: Almost became a single, and it is well deserving. From the catchy "woo-woos" to the funky beat, it's just great. 5. I Need You Tonight: What a beautiful song, sung mostly by Nick Carter (the heavier blonde.) Everytime I hear it, my knees go absolutely weak. It's "I Want It That Way" quality, just a little slower. 6. Don't Want You Back: While most BSB fans are not so fond of the break-up songs, how could anyone think this deserves to be panned? It is a WONDERFUL break-up song. From the beat to the tune right down the vocals, it just is wonderful. It also almost made it into a single. 7. Don't Wanna Lose You Now: I think anyone would enjoy this song, and while I'm not exactly a [fan of] love songs, I have to admit this is a very nice, easy listening song. Keeps you interested. 8. The One: An unmistakable song that cllimbed to #1 the day after it premiered! How can you not like everything about it? Beautiful love song with an upbeat tempo. 9. Back to Your Heart: #1 potential. This is actually my favorite song on the album and after a listen, I think you'll see why. Just try not to sing along with the chorus! 10. Spanish Eyes: ...it's really grown on me. Rumored to be Howie's favorite song off of "Millennium," it shows in the vocals how strongly they're feeling what they're singing. From the Spanish-style melody to the beautiful lyrics it's just a perfect song. ....11. No One Else Comes Close: Another great song often overlooked. Listen to it once, and I mean REALLY LISTEN, it could be a #1 hit any day! 12. The Perfect Fan: A really sweet song dedicated to the guys' moms, it doesn't do much for me, but my mom's really impressed with it. Maybe that's another reason it's on here, get the parents interested! The Backstreet Boys are, to this day, the best boy band out there, and this is still their best album, though all of them show true effort and a wonderful quality of music.
Free Music Review: Music that just plain sounds good is no crime Hit: 5 Stars
Like many in the 20-30 something age-range, I find myself perhaps a little embarrassed to admit I am about to admit... I actually like the Backstreet Boys. Being innundated with their music from the various "Z" and "Mix" radio stations in my area (as well as teeny-bopper neighbors and family members playing their music) enabled me to develop a liking for the songs on this album. But, until a 70-year old friend of the family admitted that she liked the BSB, I couldn't actually allow myself to do the same and buy "Millenium"
Now that I have just done my part in BSBA (BackStreet Boys Anonymous), it's time to focus on the album "Millenium". While their debut album put them on the map, it is really "Millenium" that proves that BSB has staying power. The songs on this follow-up effort are vastly superior to the earlier album and to that 'other' guy group N'Sync (who I had initially thought was the better of the two bands based on the first two singles released). The first release "I Want It That Way" has the kind of feel good melody that makes you want to listen to the song over and over again. In addition, this is the first song that gives each member of the band a chance to go solo and highlight their individual vocal talents, with impressive results. The big ballad single, "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" is a fairly affecting song itself, even though the slower ballads are not BSB's strong suit. They return to their strengths with soaring dance beats in "Larger Than Life" (a tribute to the impact that their fans have had on the band) and "The One".
Will the BackStreet Boys ever be confused with the greats in music history? Highly unlikely. But, for BSB to exist in a cookie-cutter genre where most groups seem indentical and take critical drubbings from the press, the fact that they have been able to carve a niche in the people's minds (and, yes, hearts) and even win over such jaded music fans such as myself, speaks volumes about the quality of this group and their music. So, overcome any shame or embarrasment you might feel and do what I and the previous reviewer have suggested and admit you like the BackStreet Boys, buy "Millenium", and enjoy.
