The new album is different from there old songs but it is still a good listen. I recently went to see them in concert and they where absolutely brilliant, they sung mostly old songs but the new ones are still great. I like the song incomplete and love Nick Carter and have since i was about 9. xxxFree Music Review: amazing!

This is an amazing album! I'm one of the fans that actually stuck with them through the years. I always hoped they would come back with a new album and go on tour! Im so glad it all happened. The album is very mature and the songs are great. "Poster Girl" is one of my favorite songs. After taking a five year hiatus, the Backstreet Boys are back with a new album sounding a little older but wiser. Appropriately named, Never Gone, this album shows a lot of growth that the Backstreet boys have done. I saw appropriately named Never Gone because they might've been out of the spotlight for a while, they never completely gave up on music. And with this album, it's a good thing they didn't, we would be missing a great line up of songs.
Being a group for more than 10 years, they had their struggles to get on top, and even on top they all had personal struggles. With this 5 year break, they finally got a break from being a band and got to do things they wanted to do and needed to do as individuals. But they couldn't stay away from being a group and making music like they all love to do. Spending more than a year in the studio writing, producing, and recording songs for a new album . They spent time putting different sounds into their pop song to have a new variety of fans. Mixing a little more rock and also R & B but still kicking their original made sound that they are known for. As I mentioned before, the lyrics of this album are mature and deeper than previous albums. In past albums, they went for the rhyming factor which would turn to sound cheesy but catchy and it worked. This album and in the first single alone, you see the growing that the members have done lyrically and vocally. In "Incomplete" the lyrics used are "...Empty spaces fill me up with holes, distant faces with no place to go. Without you within me I can find no rest.." You can deel the pain that they are expressing a lot more deeper. Which makes the ballads on this album some of their best. Also, for their this album they focus more on ballads and to show off their vocal abilities because they are know for their great harmonies and pure talent. And they have a few mid-tempo songs that have great lyrics, such as "I Still.." and "Climbing the Walls". They are lyrically better written they their other hits, like "As Long As You Love Me" and "Quit Playin' Games", but they are bigger hits because they are really catchy and that's what radio and people go for. The new album has catchy song but not as catchy. If you were a die heart fan of the Backstreet Boys before you will noticed the maturity in the music and will like the change. But if you didn't really followed their you might not like it as much, going into thinking it's going to sound like the typical pop boy band.
There is something missing in this album, and that's a real big hit like "I Want It That Way" or even "Shape of My Heart". The whole album is good but nothing big for radio. It's really seems to be missing that one song that people go out and buy the album for. But if you are looking to hear great ballads and an occasional upbeat song, I'd recommend Never Gone for you.

More appropriate title don't you think? After all the Backstreet Boys were essentially the New Kids on the Block of the late-90's. Which sums up nicely how much music has been in the toilet for the last few years, when one of the worst groups in history is one of the most influential groups out there(see also *Nsync, and every other boy-band)
So their back, let em. Hopefully if there is a god this will be just a hickup and BSB will take their rightful place alongside NKOTB, Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice on the musical wall of shame.

Hace tiempo que estab?mos sin la m?sica de Backstreet Boys. Su ?ltimo disco de estudio se edit? en Noviembre de 2000 (Black & Blue). Aunque en Noviembre de 2001 nos hab?an dejado su recopilatorio de Grandes ?xitos Chapter One, del que extrajeron su ?ltimo single: Drowning.
Pues por fin los BSB han vuelto, y como dice el t?tulo de su nuevo disco: Never Gone (Nunca se fueron).
Voy a saltarme el t?pico de decir: "Es el mejor ?lbum que han hecho", y dem?s cosas, porque estamos muy ilusionados con su nuevo disco, y m?s despu?s de tanto tiempo, y es normal decir este tipo de comentarios al escuchar nuevo material de nuestro grupo favorito.
Los BSB son m?s mayores, es normal que sean m?s maduros, pero ellos s?lo han escrito 2 canciones en este nuevo disco (y una de ellas es el Bonus Track). Me hubiera gustado que hubieran escrito m?s canciones (En el Black & Blue escribieron 6).
Esto viene a cuento con la madurez; antes las canciones se las hac?an gente m?s mayor que ellos, y ahora tambi?n, no s? porque la gente tiende a decir esto de la madurez (es verdad que antes les hac?an canciones de letras juveniles (la edad que ten?an): por ejemplo Everybody o We've got it goin' on, aunque es a lo que a letras se refiere, porque la m?sica es universal. Ahora claro est? que se les hace letras m?s adecuadas a su edad actual, aunque tambi?n lo que se dijo al sacar "Black & Blue", era que los BSB hab?an hecho un disco m?s maduro. ?Recordais? En realidad es lo que se dice cuando se hace un nuevo disco.
?Pero acaso canciones como Show me the meaning of being lonely, The Call, o All I have to give no las hubieran podido hacer ahora?. Pues s?. Y ser rom?ntico tampoco tiene edad. Como tambi?n Beautiful Woman hubiera podido aparecer en sus primeros discos.
Me quedo con lo que dijo Nick, "este disco es diferente a los otros, ni mejor ni peor, distinto". Tambi?n dijo que ya hicieron la canci?n de su vida "I Want It That Way", y que se siente orgulloso de todo lo que han cantado hasta ahora (es algo que valoro much?simo, ya que no soporto que haya cantantes que desprestigien sus primeros discos). Yo sigo disfrutando como el que m?s escuchando canciones como We've got it goin' on o Quit Playin'Games, y s? que ellos tambi?n.
A lo que vamos, voy a comentar Never Gone. Un excelente disco, con decir que es de BSB ya est? todo dicho. Diferentes, pero tan buenos como siempre. Llama la atenci?n que la voz de AJ suena m?s limpia (aunque me gusta m?s la voz cortada de AJ de otras veces).

Lo han escogido como single de presentaci?n. Una balada que podr?a perfectamente haber sido de un grupo de Modern Rock. Es una sorpresa que sea de BSB, y seguro que mucha gente que los criticaba, se habr? llevado una gran sorpresa enter?ndose que la canci?n que tanto les gusta que suena por ah? es de Backstreet Boys. En directo Kevin toca el piano aqu?, pero no es ?l en la versi?n estudio.
2. Just Want You To Know
Lead vocals: Nick y AJ
Dec?an que iba a ser el Segundo single, aunque todav?a no se sabe. (Ojala sea as?). Como Incomplete, es otra de las joyas del disco. La canci?n m?s ca?era y Rockera de todas las que nos vamos a encontrar aqu?. 100% Nick. Y de quien iba a ser si no una canci?n as???? Del mism?simo Max Martin, que se puede desonvelver igualmente en el Pop, el Rock o incluso el R&B.
3. Crawling Back To You
Lead vocals: Brian, Nick y AJ.
Un medio tiempo que tambi?n es Rock mel?dico. Aqu? es cuando te terminas de dar cuenta que nunca los BSB hab?an sonado as?, la instrumentaci?n deja paso a las guitarras, el bajo y la bater?a, desbancando a la electr?nica y efectos especiales de sus anteriores ?lbumes.
4. Weird World
Lead vocals: Nick. (Aunque tambi?n se oye a AJ en alguna frase)
Pop-Rock muy arm?nico.
5. I Still
Lead vocals: Brian, Nick, AJ y Kevin Otra joya que no pueden desperdiciar como single. Aqu? se termina de definir el sonido del cd: Pop-Rock. ?Y de quien? Max Martin. Hay que hacerle un monumento, es casi el 6? BSB. La instrumentaci?n de "Never Gone" es una maravilla, y en esta canci?n se sale.
6. Poster Girl
Lead vocals: AJ - Nick aparece intermitentemente col?ndose entre la voz de AJ
A pesar de que solo canta AJ en esta canci?n, el estribillo es de todos, y adem?s se oye incluso a Kevin en un par de frases guiando. Esta canci?n es diferente, tercera movida del album (esta adem?s se puede bailar), y se van las guitarras para dejar paso a una base instrumental t?pica de ellos, en esta canci?n Funk, que parece sacada del Black & Blue. Arreglos vocales de los propios BSB.
7. Lose It All
Lead vocals: Nick, Brian, Kevin y AJ
Destaca que haga un solo Kevin, (junto con Millenium es el disco donde m?s canta), si dejamos aparte la canci?n del primer cd que canta ?l toda entera).
Balada Modern Rock mel?dica (podr?a haber sido de Avril Lavigne), y recuerda (por lo menos a m?) a "The Reason" de Hoobastank.
8. Climbing The Walls
Lead vocals: Principalmente Brian. (Aunque en el Puente aparece Howie con AJ)
Esta canci?n tiene mucha fuerza (como sol?a hacer BSB), pero con la instrumentaci?n de este nuevo disco. Es un medio tiempo. La veo candidata a single (?Con tanta buena canci?n que menos que sacar 5 singles?)
9. My Beautiful Woman
Lead vocals: Nick y AJ
Mezcla de Funky y Rock, suena a BSB pero con la novedad de las guitarras para este tipo de canciones. Aunque cambiaran el estilo, necesitabamos canciones as?, o como Poster Girl, aunque no son tan espectaculares como las bailables del Black & Blue. Esta muy bien que a pesar de que hayan madurado, les salga la vena juvenil que llevan dentro con esta canci?n!!!
10. Safest Place To Hide
Lead vocals: Brian, Howie, Nick, AJ y Kevin
A partir de aqu? el disco da un cambio. Se van las guitarras y empiezan a aparecer los sonidos m?s suaves y arm?nicos, y la m?sica negra.
En esta canci?n cantan los 5!!. Balada madura. Y con grito de Nick a lo Bryan Adams al final.
11. Siberia
Lead vocals: Brian, AJ, Kevin
4? canci?n de Max Martin (aunque esta vez no la produce ?l). Otra balada. Tambi?n como la anterior, novedosa para las baladas que siempre hab?an hecho.
12. Never Gone
Lead vocals: Brian, Howie, Nick, y AJ tambi?n
Canci?n que escribe Kevin en memoria de su padre, la que t?tulo al disco. Adem?s ?l toca el piano en esta canci?n. Por fin una canci?n de ellos. Parece sacada de Millenium ?. Esta si es t?pica balada de ellos, aparece el R&B.
13. Song For The Unloved (bonus track)
Lead vocals: Brian, Nick y AJ
Esta canci?n es un Bonus Track, y es diferente tambi?n. Recuerda mucho a las canciones ben?ficas que grabaron ellos junto a otros artistas: (Let the music heal your soul, Children need a helping hand, Children of the world...) La letra va dirigida a la gente pobre y marginada, y los arreglos vocales son de ellos.
14. Rush Over Me (bonus track)
Lead vocals: Brian, AJ y Nick.
Escrita por los 5 Backstreet Boys. Aqu? tambi?n aparece el R&B. Yo quiz?s hubiera preferido que hubieran metido la canci?n del DVD "Last Night You Saved My Life", es muy alegre y ser?a un cierre muy animado. No se cual hubiera quitado pero esta quiz?s la hubiera metido.
