Free Music Notes for Unbreakable (Dlx) (Snyp) (Dig)Free Music Review: Backstreet - Another Level Hit: 5 Stars
It has been more than a hot minute since this band was at the top of their commercial peak, but their creative peak may have just turned the corner. Most of the album is what you would expect from this group, some dance numbers mixed in with pop ballads. The difference here is that all of these songs have hooks. This is twice the album of their 2005 comeback "Never Gone," despite losing a member their vocals sound better than ever. The lead single "Inconsolable" manages to develop a killer hook just as good as their earlier smash hits although it sounds a little like it is from the late 1990's. Some of the more impressive tracks sound a little more innovative and contemporary. Using the term "innovative" to describe an aging boy band is not something I would usually do, but witness the closing track "Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon" and its Beatlesque arrangements and pitch-perfect harmonies, and while these "boys" may not have reinvented the wheel, they have reinvented themselves. Everyone grows up, but this group is aging quite gracefully.
Free Music Review: Talented male vocals, a rarity nowadays Hit: 5 Stars
To be honest I wasn't expecting much from The Boys, especially since they have lost a supposedly "key" member of their group. But I was pleasantly surprised. My musically talented wife and I have been partial to the BSB for a while now, and after two full listens we believe this CD shows off their vocal abilities in a package that is once again accessible to a mainstream audience. Yes there are some "old school" BSB offerings (for any fans out there, you know about those dramatic pauses followed by a crescendo), two or three songs have a little bit of a redundant sound, but the rest of the CD progresses and matures to the point where I found myself saying "why did they choose Inconsolable as their first song to release to radio/MTV/etc.?" 90% of the songs on the CD are better than that one.
An entertaining, accessible, and musically/vocally rich album from the evolved and durable boy band. Good male vocals from upstanding citizens are a rarity these days, and that that is worth the purchase in itself.
Free Music Review: Buy This CD! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great CD - not just for BSB fans, but for everyone. I say that because if people gave them a chance, they would change their narrow minds. I think everyone should subscribe to the church of Backstreet and I have converted many in my 10 years of fandom. This is the first album without Kevin and while I do miss him, you can tell that they tried very hard to ensure that we were not missing him vocally and they succeeded! This is my favorite of all the albums. I think it's shows how they've grown as people and artists. The opening a capella version of Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon will give you goosebumps on the first listen. They are truly talented and don't get anywhere near the respect that they deserve. They could out sing any artist on the charts today. I know everyone is up Justin Timberlake's ugly ass (though I have no idea why), but if you could crawl out and listen to this, you would change your mind and realize that this is real talent and that they are far superior to most popular music.
Free Music Review: So the Backstreet Boys still make good music--EVEN BETTER! Hit: 5 Stars
i became a fan of bsb when i was 12. now 22, i bought this album not really knowing what to expect. but i felt i owed it to myself since i was a fan for a long time. i have to say, it was way better than i expected. this album i think is their best one. it's not the same sound as their previous records before "never gone". it takes what they gained musically with "never gone" and took it a notch further with this. these are very well rounded, catchy songs with nice lyrics. songs that stand out being, helpless when she smiles, any other way, treat me right, unmistakable, and unsuspecting sunday afternoon to close the album with style. their two bonus songs are good as well, "downpour" has a unique sound. Overall, this album is great and i'd recommend this to anyone that was ever a bsb fan for whatever reason. they definitely have grown over the past several years and it's seen on this record. i hope they make another record as good as this one.
Free Music Review: One of My Favorite Albums so far! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow, I was a little worried that I would not like this album, but I have to say that this is a great album. I love every song on this album from the Acapella Intro to the sad and dreary "Unsuspected Sunday Afternoon". I have to say I love the new sound better than the old sound. I was so amazed by "Never Gone" and the new sound. I know they will be around just as long as the eagles. They don't have to compete with other boy bands anymore like N'sync. Apparently, this group was God given because they have lasted this long as friends. The solo projects did not destroy the band, and they say over and over again that they are like brothers a family. I look forward to seeing more and more of the Backstreet Boys, and the music will get better with age. Maybe they will win their first Grammy very soon because people have to get over the fact that they are no longer a "boy band", but a band of talented men.
