Free Music Notes for Backyardigans Groove to the MusicFree Music Review: Tammy La Gorce is dead wrong Hit: 5 Stars
Any parent who has truly watched and listened to The Backyardigans couldn't help but disagree with the Editorial Review. If you want your child to have a wide range of musical appreciation, this is a fantastic show and CD. All original songs and stories with a different musical theme for each episode, this show has great vocabulary (my daughter didn't know the word "gulch" before watching "Eureka!") and has taught fabulous memorization skills as my 2 yr old has learned almost all the songs. As for the singers, I really appreciate the fact that they enunciate and have emotional inflection. I love this show and their CDs, and I am 27. Finally, Ms La Gorce, if you are going to insult a show do it correctly...Uniqua doesn't sing "I Love Being a Princess," Tasha does.
Free Music Review: Fun and funky music for kids of all ages Hit: 5 Stars
I'll never forget the day my husband and I were in the car with my daughter and The Drumming Song came on. I loved it and felt like it was my dirty little secret. Rather sheepishly, I confessed to him that I loved it and he looked at me and said, "I do too!" That's when I knew we had hit the jackpot. I love the Backyardigans in general and my daughter is a huge fan. The music is fun and covers a wide variety of styles but what is most surprising of all is how very clever the lyrics are. My husband and I frequently laugh out loud at some of them. I just love seeing my daughter bopping the the beat in the backseat and singing along with her favorite characters. This CD truly does kids' music proud and proves that if it is done well it's also a treat for adults.
Free Music Review: Absolutely Terrific Hit: 5 Stars
My two year old can NOT go to sleep at night without this CD playing -- which is kind of weird that she can go to sleep with the peppy music playing. She jumps for joy every time we turn it on. I have never been a fan of kids stuff - I don't watch Disney movies or get into other animated shows - but I LOVE the Backyardigans, mostly for the music. I get so tired of all her other CDs, but I will put this one in the CD any day. The music genres change each episode (from rock to Broadway to salsa to Irish), so the CD is full of different sounding songs. And, even though they target kids, these songs are really enjoyable to me as an adult. "The Rules" and "AHA" are my favorite songs, but really all of the music on this CD is good.
Free Music Review: The reviewer should watch the show... Hit: 5 Stars
To be fair, I didn't read all 44 reviews of this CD, so someone may have already mentioned this, but Uniqua did NOT sing "I Love Being a Princess", that was Tasha in the "Secret of the Nile" episode. Uniqua was the sphinx in that one and taught Tasha a valuable lesson on saying "please" and "thank you". I haven't bought this CD (yet) but do have the first one and it's one my daughter and I BOTH love. I have already heard all of the songs, however, since we rarely miss a Backyardigans episode on TV! Anyway, these songs are keepers and the variety of genres explored is amazing (although I could live with a little less hip hop). Definitely a must-have for anyone with preschoolers or toddlers. Two thumbs up!!
Free Music Review: Excellent Singing, No Insanity Hit: 5 Stars
My kids LOVE this show and all the music. My 7yr old still enjoys watching the show, and my 3yr old can't get enough of the music! These kids can SING, and not in that annoying cutesy Kidzbop or Barney sort of way. This is completely tolerable music. If you have to play kid's music, you'll appreciate the talents of the singers on this CD.
As for the songs, I personally like this CD slightly better than the first one. My 3yr old loves to boogie to "Shake Your Body"!!! And I especially appreciate that my kids are exposed to many genres of music, in a fun and extremely listenable (if that's even a word) way.
Adults are unlikely to go insane with repeated listenings of this CD.
