Free Music Notes for No More Shall We PartFree Music Review: No More Shall We Part with Nick Cave's music Hit: 5 Stars
Nick Cave. That name always brings up pictures of melancholy, old testament-based religious lyrics, couples breaking up, and everything elese that projects a somber image of life. This is what I like about Nick Cave, his music can be the most depressing ever, but in a good way. Not to mention he is by far one of the most talented musicians ever to wlak the Earth. I first got into Nick Cave whenever I saw "Let Love In" at my local music store. That album introduced me to Nick Cave's dark, but very romantic world. To be perfectly honest I did kinda loose track of him after that, but seeing he had a new album out I decided to give it a go. Masterpiece! Just nothing but pure emotion. This is an album that I can mellow out. Take a few Vicodine, smoke a Clove cigarette, and put on "No More Shall We Part" is, IMO, the best way to enjoy and experience the intoxicating sound of Nick Cave. The one thing I do admire a lot about Nick Cave not only musically, is his personality. Very intelligent not to mention how he turned down a grammy that he won for his "Murder Ballads" for the simple fact that his muse does not make music for competition, but for the love of music itself. Arguably one of the best releases of 2001. Best songs: As I Sat Sadly By Her Side, And No More Shall We Part, Fifteen Feet Of Pure White Snow, and God Is In The House.
Free Music Review: simply beautiful Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard of Nick Cave last summer when a coworker was singing one one his songs. I thought the lyrics were amazingly poetic, and being that I'm a person who enjoys things amazingly poetic, I inquired what song she was singing, by whom, the whole nine yards.I immediately found a computer and quickly found a page of Nick Cave mp3's. I downloaded the first song I came across, "Love Letter." The version I downloaded was, in fact, a live version, in which it's just Cave and a piano. And that's it. It drove me to tears, it was so beautiful. So touching. So moving. So raw. As soon as I scraped [the money] together, I ran out to my nearest overpriced, mediocrity ridden music megastore and bought a copy of "No More Shall We Part." It is one of the greatest uses of my hard earned money. Ever. The orchestrated version of "Love Letter" is just as gorgeous and stirring as the emotional live performance. "We Came Along This Road" is one of my favorite songs on the album, and the piano composition is simply exquisite on this song. The piano composition on the album in general is absolutely brilliant, and Cave's lyrics are particularly moving, stirring. Where some people may hear, in comparison to other Cave works, a long, dilluted, drawn-out bore, I see beauty.
Free Music Review: Mellow and Deep Hit: 5 Stars
I listened to a while ago "Where the Wild Roses Grow" when my friend had visited me. She claimed she adored Nick Cave's voice, and I hissed and said that he was dull and lacked any spark. Oh, but I was wrong. This week was my friends birthday. I went out with another friend of mine to purchase this album for her, since she claimed she loved his voice so much. I brought the CD home and began to listen to it -- I fell in love and kept it for myself. I decided to get her something of heavy metal that she would probably much prefer. THAT is how much I love this album -- and now, I am hooked on Nick Cave. His songs grow on you, and you can't fight the urge to have it in your CD player all the time on those long and dreary days."As I Sat Sadly By Her Side" is my favourite song, it's beautifully written and will let your thoughts drift along a country road in your mind. "We Came Along This Road" is also a wonderful song to listen to, and is also another favourite of mine. The rest is also wonderful. However, different songs evoke different feelings in different people. If you're looking for songs that grown on you, and everytime you put them on you feel as though you are hearing it for the first time -- then this is the album for you.
Free Music Review: An album worth waiting for Hit: 5 Stars
Nick Cave is back, four years after his master piece The Boatman's Call. He is not disappointing me. This album ranks among his best work. Musically it's a combination between let's say the Boatman's call and albums such as The Good Son and Henry's dream. But it has got, like every Cave album, a unique identity of its own. It's a bit rougher than TBC (notably "Oh my Lord"), due to more influence of the Bad Seeds. The music is stunning again and almost hypnotizing. Stand out tracks are The Sorrowful Wife (a lovely and sad ballad with an emotional explosion at the end), Hallelujah (great music and lyrics, brilliant song), the title songs And no more shall we part (THE love ballad of the next century) and the single As I sat sadly by her side (nice lyrical story). Make sure to buy the special edition with the excellent bonus tracks Grief came riding (nice ballad) and Bless his ever loving heart (a true Gospel). Cave is closer than ever to Leonard Cohen. Simply a brilliant album that was worth waiting for, eventhough it's not as dark as the Boatman's Call. That quality of that album would be something that can't be repeated by any artist. But this new one at least comes close, which is more than I wished for.
Free Music Review: I'm Stunned... Hit: 5 Stars
I don't understand how anyone could think this recording is nothing short of a masterpiece for Nick. And the music.. this is by far the best musical effort i've heard from this band. Warren Ellis' violin work is outstanding... like other people out there, the first nick song i've heard was "red right hand" off of the xfiles soundtrack. And i bought "Murder Ballads" thinking that song was on there, but I was in for a surprise.. the album was good.. very different.. a little campy i think, and it's hard to take the lyrical content with any artistic seriousness. I bought a few of the other earlier albums including, Let Love in, Tender Pray, best of, your funeral my trial, and the boat man's call, it wasn't until boat man's "are you the one that i've been waiting for? did i get the full feeling of what nicks musical vision was capable of producing.. and this album.. wow, i'm shocked. A modern "pop" masterpiece.. if you could consider this man pop. If Nick Cave's earlier work was filled with such genius that this album contains, he would be considered this generations most powerful poet... great job Nick.. maybe marriage is what helped. Thanks for this beautiful cd.
