Free Music Review: Improved with age...

When I first listened to this CD back in 1993 I think my expectations were a little rigid and somewhat narrow. I was expecting another The Broadway Album which was an unqualified masterpiece that featured mostly traditional songs. When Back to Broadway was released I was disappointed to see so many selections by A.L. Webber whom I categorized a hack. But after revisiting it the songs have grown on me and I have a much greater appreciation for the strong performances. I even have to admit that a couple of the Webber tunes are now among my favorites.
I think the best selections are "Everybody Says Don't", which is a career standout, "I've Never Been In Love Before"; absolutely sublime, and Webber's "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and "With One Look"; A.L. Webber's music never sounded better.
My love for Streisand goes back to 1968 when I sat in a movie theatre and watched Funny Girl twice in one afternoon, and it hasn't wavered since then.
