Free Music Review: "Vintage Seventies Streisand"
Hit: 5 Stars

"Barbra Streisand's "Lazy Afternoon" was released in 1975 and went all the way to #12 on the Billboard Pop Charts, eventually being certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies. Like many of her albums from this era "Lazy Afternoon" did not produce any hit singles. Instead, the record is known for the talented songwriters who gave Barbra some amazing material to work with. Among those who contributed tracks are Stevie Wonder ("You and I"), Rupert Holmes ("My Father's Song", "Letters That Cross in the Mail", "Widescreen"), Alan and Marilyn Bergman and Dave Grusin ("A Child is Born"), and Paul Williams who cowrote "I Never Had It So Good" (with Roger Nichols) and who would go on to write, with Barbra, the Oscar-winning "Evergreen" the following year. Barbra also wrote "By The Way" with Rupert Holmes.

The songs here are breathtakingly beautiful and very much of their time. If your a fan of Barbra's this is really one of her better seventies albums.
