Free Music Review: Gets better with every listen...
Hit: 5 Stars

This may be one of my favorite Streisand albums of all time. I've been a big fan of Barbra for years, and think of her as "the voice". What I love about Love is the Answer is that it isn't over produced and Barbra lets her mature voice, even with hints of smokiness at time, be totally "there" without a bunch of in studio wizardry. The purity of her voice and the emotion that she communicates in each song just blows me away - something so soft, yet something so powerful. I get the sense that she is conveying a lifetime of emotion and experience. I was listening to this CD last night with a couple of people who aren't diehard Barbra fans, but they both commented on how remarkable and moving this body of music is. I know there are some naysayers out there who think the album is too slow. I find it a welcome change of pace, and i love how intimate this music feels. Bravo Barbra. You're 68 and still the best!

Free Music Review: TURN UP THE QUIET.....AND LISTEN
Hit: 5 Stars

The entire album, both orchestral and quartet version is "delicious". As Barbra's long time collaborator, Jay Landers, says in his booklet notes, "turn up the quiet" and "you'll here the sound of intimacy". Very very true. I never really liked the Brel piece "If You Go Away", but Barbra nails it in this new version. "Gentle Rain" is a stand-out for me, as is "Where Do You Start" by the Bergmans.

This is "by the fireplace" music, or "candlelight music" or "have a glass of wine with dimmed or no lights music". Not a dud anywhere. I am sad there is no duet or vocal with Diana Krall, but Diana should be so proud of her production. It is top notch, with Johnny Mandel's exceptional arrangements.

This is a definite keeper. With all the noise out there these days, even in the music business, this is Barbra's way of saying "Shhhhhh" very softly and calming you down.

Free Music Review: KUDOS FOR FINALLY GOING BACK TO THE M49!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

FANTASTIC WORK, the BEST in DECADES. Thanks for going back to the Neumann M49 that G-d Himself MADE for your voice, with all its luscious tube fatness and tickle the ear high-mid treble bite.

Now all you need is a bit more echo, in mono return, straight up the middle (not "stereo" out of phase panned to the sides), preferably with the send to a tape machine first and super hot, and people will finally hear that it wasn't your voice that aged over the years, it was those horrific sizzly "newer" Neumann mics and the LACK of distortion in the vocal track and echo that made it SEEM so.

Brilliant. Thank you SO MUCH FOR COMING HOME!

Kudos to the mic selection on the orchestra as well. Finally the tonal balance (between the music tracks and the vocal) so wrong for decades is RIGHT ON.

Free Music Review: Barbra at her best
Hit: 5 Stars

This is such a great album by Ms. Streisand, by far one of her career highlights. She sounds so good, and her choice of songs are perfect. Tis has been much said about the changes in her voice (since the 2006 concerts and album) so Diana Krall has brought the strengths of her talent to the forefront and utilized that special gift of Barbra's that is unmistakable and unique. At 67 years old, she rpoves she is the greatest star and continues to amaze her audience. Please buy this album and trsut the positive reviews...we are right!!!!

This is great for an intimate evening with your loved one or a quiet personal evening to yourself, or even a long drive....you can listen to it from start to finish, a rare thing for an album today.

Great job Barbra and Diana.

Free Music Review: The songbird sings again
Hit: 5 Stars

Barbra Streiseand remains the ultimate interpreter of song! Her voice is still golden, her phrasing without equal, the musicians outstanding. Diana Krall has co-produced a masterpiece. In this package there are 2 CDs one accompanied by just a rhythm section, piano bass & drums. The 2nd CD has the same songs but with the addition of lush orchestral arrangements. There are a few spots where I think the orchestra is mixed too soft and her vocal overpowers them slightly. But with that wonderful voice it's a small complaint. My biggest complaint about Barbra is her need to preach politics. Just because you are a good singer shouldn't give you the right to stand on a soapbox and spout off your political beliefs. I enjoy her music. I just wish she would shut up and sing!!!
