Free Music Notes for Love is the AnswerFree Music Review: Sometimes less is more . . . Hit: 5 Stars
Skip this version and go straight for the deluxe edition that offers these songs performed with just Diana Krall's quartet. Exquisite. I'm a die-hard Streisand fan but discerning enough to know that every album she's issued isn't golden. I approached this album with a great deal of cynicism (particularly since I've never seen her hype an album as much as this one) but concur that this one ranks among her best. Streisand herself at her Village Vanguard performance referred to coming full-circle with this album. Maybe, maybe not, but make a playlist of her very first album and this one, hit shuffle, and prepare to be blown away by the experience.
Free Music Review: Soft and comforting Hit: 5 Stars
I grew up to Barbra Streisand and have been a life long fan. I also had the great fortune of seeing her live in Las Vegas 3 years ago. With the engagement of Diana Krall (another wonderful singer and arranger), I have to admit I thought this CD would be a little more 'jazzy'. But, because it was different has what I thought it would be, does not take away from the quality of the music and her voice. It is soft, moving and romantic. Even the colors she selected on the cover and inside pictures set the mood. She has produced some songs like this before, to put them on one CD is new for her and she needed to make a CD like this.
Free Music Review: Great song selections ... songs that we can relate to. Hit: 5 Stars
Barbra is still in good voice. Except for some songs in which she lets us hear her imperfect voice placement ... I guess, she might have intended it and that's okay. She delivers each song so well -- it's like she's telling stories ... stories that can make us cry. It's something in her voice that sends out such emotion that no one can do. So, if you're hesitating about buying this CD, I would say "Go for it, buy it, and you won't be disappointed." Just don't expect the same powerful sound that the young Streisand made 30 or 40 years ago ... this is the lower tone, more mellow sound that the mature Streisand possesses.
Free Music Review: Barbra does it again. Hit: 5 Stars
Barbra's sixty third album finds her in fine fettle. Produced by Diana Krall and Tommy Lipuma, Barbra takes on songs associated with other great singers such as Carmen McRAe, Shirley Horn, and Irene Kral. She is accompanied By Alan Broadbent on a couple of songs. Broadbent being Irene Kral's accompaniest of choice. The result is a beautiful collection of ballads such as Smoke gets in your eyes, Here's to Life, The gentle rain, Make somemone Happy and eash one gets the Streisand treatment. Thsi is a must have album for Streisand fans and neophytes as well. By this album for yourself and someone you love.
Free Music Review: Exquisite Sophistication...Simply Streisand. Hit: 5 Stars
She hits notes on this album that I didn't thinks he could hit anymore. I am blown away, I tell you. From the first note of "Here's to Life" to the last line of "Some Other Time"...perfection. Barbra has not made an album of this particular quality, intimacy, and consistency since the sixties. No question. There are so many ultimate moments for the Streisand Hall of Fame here.
This album is easily her best whole package since "The Broadway Album." Easily. This woman's gift is ageless. Boundless.
