Free Music Review: It Could Happen To Barry
Hit: 3 Stars

When it has came down to standards lately, it seems everyone is trying to do a standard record right now. From Rod Stewart with his recent Songbook album, to Boyz II Men with the lackluster Love from last year. But Barry Manilow has shown to have strength in his Greatest Sings of the decade series, until when he released his Greatest Songs Of The 80's, which felt more like a big waste of time on the ears. But since then, Barry has decided to go back into the style of the songs that showed his signature voice hasn't lost its luster for. But is it worth the voice for.

Barry Manilow's The Greatest Love Songs Of All Time, tries to go back to the signature style Barry had shown well from his 2006 Greatest Songs Of The Fifties collection had showcase brilliantly. The tracks he chooses instead of being more recently made classics, showcases standards from guilty pleasures to movie ballads and Adult Contemporary signature songs. There are some surprisingly good covers like his rendition of The Carpenters We've Only Just Begun, and the cover of the Elvis standard Love Me Tender, to the classic The Look Of Love to I Only Have Eyes For. While some of the songs are great, most of the other songs aren't really in the cards, and feel kind of tiring to listen to. While the variety might seem to be classic, I do wish he could try and do other standards like Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, or Elton John's Your Song, but that honestly would just be wishful thinking. I just wish it would've had a bit more vairty to the mix.

All in all, if you are a hard core fan of Barry Manilow, than The Greatest Love Songs Of All Time would be a excellent addition to your record collection, but honestly I would definitely considering listening to the full album, and see for yourself. Barry has a lot in his voice, but I wish there could've been more to showcase around here for love.
