Free Music Notes for Barry Williams Presents: One Hit Wonders of 70s

Free Music Review: great music, with one huge flaw
Hit: 4 Stars

That flaw obviously being, gathering a collection of one hit wonders from the 70's and putting them onto a single collection has been done NUMEROUS times by now to the point of being, well, pointless!

However what makes me forgive this particular version is that it features 20 songs I do really really like, so there's no inconsistency whatsoever. "Beach Baby" might very well be my favorite song here, and several others have become somewhat forgotten over the years as far as classic rock radio is concerned.

We've reached that point in time where the big hits from the 70's are being pushed to the back to make room for artists like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Coldplay and several other current bands, so despite the fact the playlist on Barry Williams Presents: One Hit Wonders of the 70's is totally generic and predictable, at least it's understandable why someone would choose to purchase this given the fact these songs have somewhat faded over time.

Still, enough is enough- let's focus on the REAL aspect that made the 70's so great with the many album-oriented original bands that are rightfully receiving most of the attention these days, such as (to name a few artists out of literally hundreds) Elton John, Cat Stevens, Procol Harum, Genesis, Al Di Meola, Captain Beyond, Chicago, etc. These are the artists that music listeners and buyers should be focusing on instead.

Free Music Review: One Hit is all You Need When They're This Good
Hit: 4 Stars

I'm not actually sure why Barry Williams' picture appears on the cover of this One Hit Wonders album. He provides no liner notes (which are very interesting, even if Greg Brady had nothing to do with them) or blurb. It's just his smiling face gracing the cover of this very fun album. I bought it for a drive to the beach, and now it seems the perfect choice. You get Edison Lighthouse, Dave Loggins (Please Come To Boston, one of the all time great songs) and First Class singing about their Beach Baby. In addition, Brewer and Shipley go One Toke Over The Line and Vicki Lawrence talks about a night when the lights went out in Georgia. It's like listening to AM radio in the 70s. Just a fun album, plus you get Greg Brady's picture in the bargain.

Free Music Review: Brings Back the Memories
Hit: 4 Stars

This Cd is really good, it is well worth getting. The music of the 70's is really good for family listening and it is nice to be able to play it with family.Kids nowadays like newer music but this CD relates to now generation too as alot of kids nowadays are listening to the 70's music and think it is great, my kids are 14 and 16 and even they love it. It is well worth checking out and I know I am very happy with it. If you are a music fan you will be too.Hearing Vicki Lawrence sing The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia was something that brought back memories of being in high school for me and hearing it on my schoolbus. Wow!!!! I am very impressed with the CD.

Free Music Review: One-Hit or TWO-Hit?
Hit: 4 Stars

Dan Hill was not a one-hit wonder. In 1987, he had a top ten hit with "Can't We Try", a duet with Vonda Sheppard. Dan Hill also made the Hot 100 with a handful of other songs, many of which were big Adult Contemporary hits in the U.S. Furthermore, he had a slew of other hits in his native Canada. Amazon sells a fine compilation of many of these songs: http://www.amazon.com/Love-My-Life-Best-Hill/dp/B00003OTEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1263608517&sr=8-1 .
