Free Music Notes for Basquiat: Original Soundtrack - Music From The Miramax Film

Free Music Review: Basquiat is alive.
Hit: 4 Stars

Having read the previous reviews I would like to clear one thing
up. Jean Michel Basquiat is in fact still alive, he did not die
in the early 1980's but instead faked his own death to escape his
growing fame and heroin addiction. He retired to Cuba where he
has lived quietly to the present day - I know this for a fact
because on a recent holiday I bumped into him at a bar where he
was having a few drinks with Tupac Shakur. Both are very well.

Great soundtrack, by the way.

Free Music Review: A Conversation
Hit: 4 Stars

I just talked to Jean (im speaking of Basquiat)the other day. In fact, he is my cousin. He told me that he was honored by the film, and yes, to end all dispute of previous entries, he did in fact choose the music for the film. He also expressed disappointment to the fact that his favorite song, "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister wasn't allowed on the soundtrack. I enjoy this album and the film, because they bring back memories from those days.

Free Music Review: Good/A question
Hit: 4 Stars

I have a question. Towards the beginning of the movie, there is this scene where Basquiat sleeps with his girlfriend for the first time and there is this music--a soft ballad playing. Is this song "The Nearnest Of You" by Keith Richards??
Can someone confirm this for me, and if so, could someone tell me where I could get that song since it isn't on the sountrack unfortunately ; it's a great song. thanks

Free Music Review: I heard there was a secret chord
Hit: 4 Stars

This is an extraordinary soundtrack for an extraordinary movie. Quite a diverse selection of music - the soulful entrees by Van Morrison, PJ Harvey, Tom Waits and the Pogues really evoke the doomed and melancholy air of the movie and of Basquiat's life. As an album it doesn't really hand together, yet all the individual songs are quite arresting and memorable.

Free Music Review: How the music perfected the movie.
Hit: 4 Stars

I enjoyed hearing artist that were not mainstream in the United States! I enjoyed Gavin Friday and John Cale, but all of the songs were deep and emotional to Basquiat. He was also a friend to SChnable and I think the music is so avante garde and punk that you will love it despite what your preference of music seems to be!
