Free Music Notes for Batman Begins [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] AlbumFree Music Review: Pompous and Pounding Disappointment Hit: 1 Stars
Well once again the powers that control batman indulged artistry over making movie music that is at all notable. Haunting and mystical though it might be for a music critic, as a theme music for an established hero who already has some music themes to work off of, this soundtrack sucked. Spare us the artists who don't get that the lack of some recognizable theme for a superhero ruins a key part of the movie (and hence the soundtrack album). James Bond w/o the JB theme; Superman without his theme; Spiderman similarly - the Green Hornet, the Flash and the Man from Uncle even, all have themes that tell you when the hero is back; that he is the hero; etc. etc. I really despise them for making such a fine movie and then not be willing to hire Elfman or else to at least pay some homage to him and/or the scores to the non-Elfman Batman movies such as Batman Forever or Batman and Robin so that the fans get music that can be added on to existing music for the hero. Star Wars has consistently hired John Williams to do exactly that; Bond had John Barry and more recently, David Arnold. Obviously Batman is not with it and the Warner Bros franchise is to blame. I bet dollars to donuts the reason was financial; to hire Elfman was more money than giving newcomers a shot at glory. Worst soundtrack of this sort since maybe Goldeneye for Bond or the music for the Hulk (another notable study in mediocre music). Too bad for the fans.....
