Free Music Notes for Batman Begins [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]Free Music Review: Best Batman Movie Score to Date!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I've seen all the Batman Movies since they started and I have to say that the music scores were very good for the styles of the earlier Batman films. However the visual style of "Batman Begins" requires a deeper more dramatic approach to convey the true essence of what this movie projects. Hard, gritty and dark. I was very suprised when I found that Hans Zimmer was involved, and I must say....a perfect choice. He is one of my favorite modern movie music composers. His work in "Gladiator" was astonishing, to say the least. His style of music fits this movie to the tee. I would only hope that for the future Batman movies, Zimmer is chosen to do them all, as John Barry was to the early James Bond flicks. It would create an excellent continuity of film and music.
Free Music Review: Batman Reborn Hit: 5 Stars
This is very, very different from the Elfman scores 16 years ago. Very different. While Elfman's stuff was very colorful and thematic, this is very atmospheric and moody... almost angry. Although I do miss a traditional "theme," there are a number motifs that appear repeatedly throughout the score, including at least four "bat wings," deep, ominous sounds reminiscent of the wings of a giant bat.
All in all, I can say that this is far more mature than the music from Elfman... It captures the character to greater degree. I fear that a lot score fans will not care for it because it lacks traditional comic-book style elements, but it would work extremely well in any D&D game as a result.
Free Music Review: The Ever Changing Moods of a Superhero Hit: 5 Stars
A pair of titans - Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard - use their incredible artistry to approach separate themes surrounding Bruce Wayne/Batman; Zimmer tackles the action sequences, while Newton Howard delves into the character scenes.
Through electronic music and orchestral pieces, the 12 tracks depict the split personality of the superhero, with song titles that are different genera of bats (with a key word spelled out from the first letter of six titles). Though the composers had an ambitious 2 hours and 20 minutes of music for the film, the album "only" clocks in at 60:26.
A surprisingly difficult album to track down, it is some of the most fascinating work from both composers.
Free Music Review: don't listen to the bad reviews if you enjoyed the movie. Hit: 5 Stars
My opinion..Don't listen to anyone else trying to compare this soundtrack with the original Batman soundtrack. The blaring trumpets were cool and suspenseful back then, but the Batman Begins soundtrack is meant to be subtle. The musical imagery of bats flapping their wings is brilliantly executed, and the overall theme is there but not meant to be delivered redundantly!...Batman is a regular man. He is considered a super-hero eventually, but assigning a theme song whenever he shows up on screen is cheesy. The music is background to a portrayal of a regular man transforming into Batman, hence the name "..Begins"
Bottom line: if you enjoyed the movie, you will probably enjoy the soundtrack.
Free Music Review: Should definitely win academy award Hit: 5 Stars
For those wondering if there are any villain themes I just want to say that there is a Ra's Ah Ghul theme. It is subtle and hard to pick up. The scene where Ra's appeared during Bruce's birthday party. The little ethnic flute is Ra's theme. It appears at the end of track 5 (Artibeus) and during the 2 minute mark of Laisurus (Track 12)
Hans zimmer and James Newton-Howard have conjured up a wealth of material that capture the true essence of Batman. I enjoyed Elfman's and Goldenthal's but i prefer Batman Begins. It is a dark yet moving tribuite to Gotham's dark knight. Since its sequel is starting, i only hope that these 2 composers do a sequel.
