Free Music Notes for Batman BeginsFree Music Review: AWEFUL!!! Hit: 1 StarsFrom the overly precocious track titles to the absolute lack of memorable themes, this is possibly the worst Batman soundtrack since Nelson Riddle's theme music in the 1960's TV show. The bass line throughout sounds like it was ripped off directly from Mozart's Symphony No 40, and the rest is just mood music which rumbles around in the background. I don't get any excitement or chills, but just laughs at how amateurish this score sounds. I expected nothing more from Mr. Zimmer, though. Too bad the next one has him at the helm again. I just wish they would bring back Danny Elfman, or put some other more accomplished film composer in the driver's seat. Zimmer should have stuck with the British techno scene...
Long and short of it is, save your money, this one just isn't worth it...
Free Music Review: Awsome score Hit: 5 StarsWhen I went to see Batman Begins I didn't think about the score. I didn't hear much of the score. I loved the movie so much that I bought the this CD. I discovered why I really didn't hear it in the movie. These two men crafted the perfect blend of film and music. They weaved a tapestry of pain, misery love and hope. Words can't describe how I love this music!
Free Music Review: Very reflective of the film it was written for Hit: 4 StarsThis is a score, a good score, written for a film, a good film. I didn't expect either to impress me as strongly as they did. The film, for me, at least, takes a while to get going, but once it does, it's unrelenting. The score is, simply put, exciting as hell! Sadly, it is given to us in a truncated form. This is a huge score, and even though about an hour of it is represented here, there is much more left behind.
One last thing: Why two composers? Both are perfectly competent to produce excellent scores on their own, and have (my tastes lean toward Howard, but no matter). I don't know much about Hans Zimmer, but he seems to show up a lot in collaborative roles ("Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl" comes to mind).
Whatever. Four stars instead of five because I want more!!
