Free Music Review: The soundtrack to a film I'd love to see.

Listening to this majestic re-recording of Phillips' original 1978 TV pilot score, it feels like the soundtrack to an epic, modern-day cinematic reboot of the Battlestar saga, closer to Richard Hatch's vision than the Ron Moore series, which, although OK, just isn't the "real" BSG and never will be. The music is played at a slightly slower tempo than the original score. Some purists have criticized this, but personally I prefer it. It makes the sweeping, grand, emotional music even better. This soundtrack is easily as good as anything John Williams has ever done. The recording is crisp and clear and played with gusto by the Scottish orchestra, and makes one long for a $200 million, FX-packed, Bryan Singer-directed big-screen version of the original '70s series, but without the dodgy haircuts!
