Free Music Notes for Battlestar Galactica: Season 3Free Music Review: Bear is Amazing. Hit: 5 StarsIt seems that everything that comes out of this show is amazing, including the sondtracks. I own all the other ones and love them, and this is no different. It has the same Celtic and Asian inspired music as the others, and is very similiar to season 2's OST. The Track "Dirty Hands" has a Old West, Cowboy feel that just grooves well. "Storming New Caprica" is a nigh 8 miniute battle theme. And of course one can not forget the track "All Along the Watchtowers". This cover of the classic song alone makes the album worth buying. In Short, if you're a fan of the show picking this up is a no brainer, and if aren't but like a good mix of non-vocal music, you can't go wrong with this!
Free Music Review: Amazing Hit: 5 StarsI'm a fan of Bear McCreary and I believe that this is his best work yet. As has been a pattern for him, he gets more and more creative with each season. This CD makes for a really great listen, I have played it almost constantly since I got it and it never grows dull. The version of All Along the Watchtower is different from how it was edited in the show but it is still just as good. And Bear says he will be releasing the show version and to check his website for details on that.
Free Music Review: A great addition to the BSG soundtracks Hit: 4 StarsI bought this, knowing the most recent season had diverse music. I didn't realize, until I listened to it, just how much more rich the music was. Being able to hear it all together, without the distractions (natch!) of the tv show visuals, you can appreciate all the beats and movements of the music far better than when actors dialogue or on-screen action is playing over it.
You can always hear the BSG in the music though, and that's why it's worth getting. It expands on BSG's themes brilliantly, and opens the ear to new styles of music that might encourage someone to check out similar styles and artists.
A good CD to have.

Free Music Review: How does he do it?!! Hit: 5 StarsWow! This new Battlestar Galactica cd is even better than past albums (which are all brilliant!). How does McCreary do it? There is so much on offer in this third season release. With one more season to go there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Bear is going to take us on one last ride that will not dissapoint! He has truly earned our trust!
Free Music Review: Emotive, Compelling and Dramatic, Music that mirrors the Show! Hit: 4 StarsBear McCreary has an incredible gift, his music for the show takes it to another level. Usually a TV show's music either overpowers the acting, or completely fails to intensify the drama. However with both the acting and the music at the top of their game, the third season's music is like listening to your favourite musical, ballet, opera or soundtrack. McCreary manages to effortlessly take you back to New Caprica, or into the 'Fight Ring'.
Personally the only track I didn't like was 'Admiral and Commander' which sounds the pretty much the same on all discs. The only complaint could be that there is not much variation in the episodes, although I wouldn't want to be the one who decides what didn't make the cut! Finally the opening and closing tracks of the season and the disc both have lyrics, and are some of the best tracks, again McCreary manages to make both Armenian folk and Bob Dylan's lyrics come together in the Colonial world! The disc is definitely for anyone who loves, world, folk, or emotive music!
